What do you mean porn substitutes? Maybe Im doing Something wrong, my hard mode is not enough and my progress is less effective...
Porn substitutes would mean anything that affects your neural pathways in the same way as porn does. Youtube thumbnails, music videos, maybe facebook pictures and dating sites. Personally I have also avoided any content containing dating tips, explicit descriptions, kissing tutorials and so on. The list is endless. Anything that makes you aroused. If you make room for anything to arouse you then chances are that you will have a pretty hard time rebooting.
So that the computer is a tool for work (eg. getting information, organizing things, earn money with), not a source of pleasure. Pleasure has to be rooted in the real world where other living beeings exist. If it's not rooted in the real world, it's fake - like drugs fake pleasure which leave you sore.
I am planning an excursion for the next week. I want to live in nature with tent and sleeping bag and without internet. I want to leave the Internet parallel world and back into the real world.
Imho that's exactly what needs to be done to turbo-boost your reboot Virtual stimuli hijack the dopaminergic reward system (creating addictions) - pmo, computergames, tv - and they will demand more and more of your time over the years. While beeing in nature, doing very simple day to day things like cooking, gardening, having a walk, talking with gf / wife, do not create addiction and this will set you free.
Yes, I think it is good for us to go back to nature. NoFap is supposed to be part of our natural life. We must resist the temptations of the Internet. I was dependent on it. Let us go the new way.
Congrats brother on making it to 100 days! I'm sure you felt a little discouraged with not noticing any immediate results after 90 days, but it's awesome that you stuck with it anyway. You may not realize it, but you are giving yourself tremendous benefit and your subtle inner energy is increasing. You may not feel it as much as you'd like, but it is happening. Good luck on your continued journey brother and don't underestimate how far you've come!
It seems like I'm reading my own thread. I thought on day 90 I'd be floating through the air, haha. And my hardest urges were between days 95-105. I wasn't expecting that.
I can second that. It is like I am struggling to find the motivation to keep going. I just "decided" to relapse for the third time in a few days but every time I am going to do it I start sweating and look at my counter. Damn. 103 days for this?!. Not fucking going to happen. My rationalization process is pretty much the same as always: Everyone watches porn. Porn is normal. I am alone and depressed, so what if I relapse etc. 90 days are first level kinda stuff, bruh Good work on your streak! Every day completed is a small win in itself.
"Every day completed is a small win in itself." Your words motivate me. Your words motivate me Today is very difficult day for me. But I want to remain brave.
Well done, excellent work. I am at day 109. I am looking for an AP between 100-150 days to discuss; sobriety; recovery; next steps to the post addict life; and to discuss the bigger question which is how to best help those further back in the journey. I am an AP to about 10 men, that is a lot. I am looking to connect with other recovering APs at post 100 days to see if they are also helping others, and if not, if they can.
Well done, excellent work to get to day 148. How did you get to that level? I am at day 109. Your counter motivates me to do the same. I am by day 7 - one week. And NoFap gave me a total of 20 hours (ore more) without PMO. You're right: "Every day is equally important."
