Day one for me today as well! I've been lurking these forums on and off for awhile now and I figure now is the time I start my journey to recovery
Relapsing multiple times , I am currently on a 2 day streak and We're all with you and supporting each other !
Thanks guys! really hoping i can get a decent number up and begin to attatch to the number and take pride and joy in the fact that it has been "x" amount of days since i stopped.
Good to hear chaps. Had a few decent streaks but reset a few times in the last month. I'm getting back at being where I want to be too. Make sure you download a copy of the Getting Started handbook, full of lots of good tips and info on P addiction. Best of luck, and stick at it. You can start feeling the benefits within two weeks.
I'm on day 6, but my last streak was 60, so I can at least pass on some tips/advice that helped me get that far: (in no particular order) Have a clear idea of why you've decided to quit porn/masturbation/whatever. Write it down. If you feel like you're gonna give up or something, re-read it. Figure out triggers. Some will be consistent to basically everyone (hungry, angry, lonely, tired, bored, sick, etc.) and some will be more personal (some chair you always wind up jerkin' it in, sleeping naked, certain shows, etc.) Pay attention to those, because they only make things harder Figure out some plans, and attach them to specific actions - not just vague feelings. So like, don't say "if I'm horny I'll shut my computer and take a walk outside" because then it's easy to start quibbling with yourself about whether you're really that horny or whatever. Say, "if I type a search term into google, or undo my pants, I have to shut my computer and go for a walk." Fix your environment to make it more difficult to do it. If you're having trouble, installing internet filters on your computer/phone/whatever can be super helpful - K9 is a good one, Net Nanny is better but costs money. Practice improving your willpower and self-discipline. I really believe you can improve them - just takes practice. I've had a lot more success at the no porn/masturbation thing since I started taking a freezing-ass shower every day. It's practicing doing something that feels uncomfortable, even though I hate it, just because I said I would. Motivation is great, but it's temporary - self-discipline is what you use when you don't feel motivated. Make a list of the excuses you make to yourself ("It'll feel good" or "I just want to see what's new" or "I'll just check if it still works") and then next to it make a list of why those excuses are bullshit ("It never feels as good as I think it will" or "It doesn't matter if it's new or old - the feeling's the same" or "Yes, of course it still works"). If you have a big urge, re-read that - you'll probably be making those same excuses to yourself in the moment. You can do this. Hell, most of your ancestors went their whole lives without porn, and they obviously managed to have sex just fine. But if you screw up, just come up with a new strategy and try again. As long as you keep trying, it'll get easier. I used to struggle to make it two days, but over time I managed to get there, then to once a week, then once every two weeks, and my last streak was two months. It's hard, but it's worth it.
This is a great watch! One of the many reasons and catalysts for why i started this journey! Hope you all can take something from this!
Tried uploading my copy here but it says the file size is too large. I got it through signing up for the mailing list. Once i find the link to that I'll post it here too.
Thanks mate, Id be interested in seeing it too. Up to day 5 and love looking at the app and watch the number get higher
