Big Beatles fan huh? My personal favorite album from them would be Rubber Soul. Definitely no fillers from that album and has my favorite song I’m Looking Through You.
Oh big time. Big time. I had to restrain myself from making this the Top Ten Beatle Album List. Agreed "Rubber Soul" is underrated in The Beatles catalogue, as its the first album that showcases how truly versatile they were in making pop songs out of any genre of music: rock, blues, pop, folk, country, classical, etc. John Mayer got a lot of shit from people for switching to a bluesier sound, but I dig it. "Bigger Than My Body" is a great track to play at the gym. I will have to check out his "Continuum" album. A guy at work recommended Television and I tried to listen, but it just wasn't hooking me. Same with Joy Division. Pink Floyd "Meddle"-- how have I missed this album? Black Sabbath and all those early metal bands, I'm intrigued by how they took heavy blues and made it into something else. Good stuff.
John Mayer’s Continuum has some of his greatest guitar works. He even covered Hendrix’s Bold as Love. Guy is one helluva guitar player. Black Sabbath is definitely up there when it comes to raw sound. N.I.B and War Pigs are definitely killer tracks and of course many of their songs are head bangers and highly influential. Pink Floyd’s Meddle definitely underrated too. I believe its the album that came first before Dark Side Of the Moon. Joy Division took a quite a lot more listening for me to truly appreciate how great it was. New Dawn Fades is my favorite song from them. Maybe you can check out New Order, it is the band that formed after Joy Division. And yes Beatles music transcends generations no arguing that I think.
This is not in any order of favorites. 1. Duality by Ra. 2. From One by Ra. 3. A Deeper Understanding by The War on Drugs. 4. Missa Papae Marcelli by Palestrina 5. A Heart of Gold is Hard To Find by Benjamin Tod. 6. Back in the High Life by Steve Winwood. 7. Deep Forest (1992) by Deep Forest. 8. Palms by Thrice 9. Coming Home by Leon Bridges. 10. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins.
