Hi, I decided that I am okay with using an ad blocker on particularly tough moments, so that I don't have to deal with lingerie ads etc. However, the one I got kept enabling itself out of its own accord, without me turning it on, so I deleted it, as I don't want to be missing ads when I don't need to... Has anyone else used one that properly stays off when you turn it off?
I can't find this. Are you sure you don't mean uBlock Origin? Because I assume that the ads are there for a reason. I reckon that when you don't see them, their purpose, at the very least in part, gets negated.
Yeah, I'm looking for a browser extension, not for a mobile app, sorry if that wasn't clear before! I have tried this one before, but I deinstalled it when I found out that it was by default an ad blocker; I don't recall actually trying to turn it off. I will, now!
There are a lot of options, but I can't find a way to just turn it off completely at the click of a button... if I have to check a dozen checkboxes when I want to turn it off, that's too much effort for me. Edit: I think I found a way to make it work! It probably works for any ad blocker, not just uBlock Origin. You can select the top option here, then it doesn't work anymore. When you want it to work again, select the bottom option. And then when you want to turn it off again, you can select the top option again. I'll be trying this!
I see what you mean. However, the reason is to generate business and money for others. There is no benefit to you.
Yeah, but considering that most of the world is capitalistic (at least that's how it seems to me), if there's no money, there will be no service. So if everyone would use an adblocker, almost all free web services that I use would either disappear or become paid.
