Like 20k books at once lol Reading Esoteric Hollywood Gothic Violence by Mike Ma I ordered a book about the CIA and cult of Intelligence and Sharpe's Tiger. Very good tv series.
I just finished The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. Absolutely loved it and glad I hadn't read it before maturing a bit. Going to start reading Dune by Frank Herbert as a large, hardcover edition was gifted to me yesterday (my birthday). After I finish that, I'll move onto On Writing Well by William Zinsser. It's something of a yearly read for me.
Uhh this is problematic… https://www.adl.org/sites/default/files/documents/assets/pdf/combating-hate/E-Michael-Jones.pdf
Yes I’m not endorsing all his views but what you wrote about Esoteric Hollywood— he has a lot of books about the sexual revolution in media and film, pornography etc. His talks on YouTube are great, too. his book libido dominandi is especially pertinent to the subject of slavery to sex and it’s establishment in the cultural revolution.
I don’t think his best works are the best works on Christianity or Catholicism. Have you read any CS Lewis? Mere Christianity is better if you’re looking for an introduction on faith. the ex-pope ratzinger has published a ton of good works too
Yes! He made narnia. Read them when I was a kid great books. Jon Pageneau is my go to for bible interpretation
Pageau is based af, love his podcast. Lewis' non-fiction works on Christianity are wayyy less esoteric. My actual first serious book on Christianity was Tolstoy's the Kingdom of God is Within You and The Gospel in Brief, but I don't recommend them anymore because even though they helped push me from agnosticism into a solid belief in God, I don't think they were complete introductions, and even have hints of narcissism to them. But Lewis is good because I think they are mature and yet simply written.
I like Lewis his books were great I think Tolkein would be good to rec to anyone interested, because he was good friends with Lewis even though he was Anglican. His books are good for an optimistic view, unlike a certain beret wearing author
I finished Annihilation and it’s of the best written books I’ve ever read, I recommend it so much. I don’t know what my next book will be yet, so many I want to read!
