Hello. I am on day 17 without PMO. Seems pretty sweet but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss all the attractive scandalously dressed (or not dressed) humans who exist on the internet. Can somebody remind me, why did we all decide to not watch porn again? Something good is coming out of this eventually right? Will I get to fly on a magic carpet with a light sabre with a drunk pirate side kick who is playing double electric guitar while the rest of the band follows us in a space Ferrari? Also how many days do I have to do this before Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are like "oh he is ok I guess lets both give him a billion dollars so he doesn't have to work any more."? Seriously why are well doing this?
We do this because we're getting our brains fucked. We get manipulated in a horrible manner. There's nothing beneficial coming from PM(O). We waste the little spare time we have by watching others fuck instead of doing it ourselves. We lose attraction and are less attracted. We neglect our partners. We become creepy and distort our sexual taste which turns into fucked up fetishes with time. We lose interest in sex and play which are two of the most important rewards that nature has given almost every creature on this planet. We support a horrible industry. My little rant. Fuck you porn. I love drama. Do good things as they will reflect like everything does. Stay strong my sisters and brothers. We can do things far beyond our imagination.
Join the FreedomFight and read some stuff at fightthenewdrug.org to see some good reasons why porn is not healthy for anyone. It's not just "porn is bad". It goes much deeper.
Would you be willing to pm me and tell me about this FreedomFight? Is that what fightthenewdrug.org says they are doing?
@FoundTheFreedom sorry I'm no neurobiologist, I only read it on wikipedia. When you're doing something "pleasureable" like PMO, the brain dumps out dopamine. Then, the "dopamine detectors" detect the dopamine and create a chain reaction, which leads to the formation of DeltaFosB. This induces long term changes in the brain. These changes make you believe "PMO is good. Do more PMO!" Now, the problem is, DeltaFosB has a "half-time period" of about 60 days. That means it stays for a long long time, even though there is no dopamine rush anymore. So avoiding dopamine rushes for a long time to decrease the DeltaFosB concentration so that the changes to the brain can be undone leading to the clearing of the confusion that PMO is a joyful experience is the goal here.
There is more. This "limbic system" I described is then like a small devil on your shoulder. But there is also an angel on your other shoulder, the prefrontal cortex. Thisvpart tries to make rational decisions. Now, abstinence and avoiding triggers weaken the devil, but talking about our addiction and trying to understand ourselves strengthen the angel.
