Caffeine is a recreational drug, and you can become habituated to it. That means that you need more and more to get the same effect. It's also bad for your heart, because it makes your heart beat faster. Having said that, a small amount of caffeine (say, one cup of coffee or one caffeinated soda each day) is unlikely to do any damage to your body or brain, provided that you have no medical reason to avoid caffeine, and you drink sufficient water throughout the day. If you are addicted to coffee, go cold turkey with all caffeine. Your body might take a couple of weeks to start working normally; that's what happened with me when I stopped all caffeine. The most noticeable benefit for me was that, after my body adjusted, I was more alert every day than when I used to drink coffee. Regarding PMO, caffeine is not a known trigger, but if you personally find that it triggers you, then obviously stop drinking it. It's not by itself a reset or relapse, as it has an entirely different function from that of PMO.
In October I made it a goal to limit my daily consumption to 2 K-cups of coffee, first thing in the morning. I used to drink 6-8 K-cups per day, often until the early evening hours. I'm not convinced that caffeine is a direct cause of PMO, but for me coffee consumption can be addicting, and I don't want to feel like I'm addicted to it. I want to feel like I can enjoy it, and more appreciate it...in moderation.
No more than 2 cups of good quality, fresh coffee should be fine! Just be wary, anything overstimulating / dopamine excessive will slow your reboot. Quitting coffee AND p0rn at same time is really hard, so stick to the better vice at least!
Maybe you could reduce consumption? I intially set my goal at 1 K-cup per day, but after I failed repeatedly, I upped my limit to 2 K-cups per day.
I gonna set my limit to 2 cups per day. I drank my second cup right now. But tomorrow I'll try reduce to 1 cup and so on....
One cup a day is enough. It is better to abstain from it altogether. But we all need a pick me up now and again.
