Disclaimer: This was inspired by but is very different from the ongoing thread: "God Doesn't Want us to Masturbate" While I was Christian, my porn addiction was one of the main things pulling me away. Even regardless of what the bible or modern Christians teach, I could feel that masturbation, and in particular PMO, was shameful, was sinful. I would pray again and again to be saved from this addiction could never last longer than I think two weeks. I came to believe it was truly impossible to conquer it, since almost all single man have it. And it was only years after losing my religion that I made progress at quitting as an atheist. So I put forward the question, does porn addiction cause atheism, and if you're religious, how has this affected your faith?
I struggled five years with my quitting my PMO addiction. Then I asked Jesus for help and He sent me on 40 days of no urges.
You just reminded me of a comment I read on that other thread: Jesus said "if you even look on a woman to lust, you have committed adultery with her in your heart", that's actually the method I started using around day 30, and it makes it so much easier. I was calling it "Super hard mode" but that's sort of a misnomer since it's actually easier. If it means I'm actually taking Jesus' advise seriously, from now on I'm calling it "Jesus Mode."
PMO made me go astray; I lost my purpose in life, which is to worship the devine. Back when I thought PMO was harmless and not addictive I was on the verge of becoming atheist, but now that I thankfully have known that PMO is addictive and it does tarnish one's body, mind and soul, I have come to the conclusion that PMO played a role in leading me astray from God. The porn industry is evil; speak of Satan's biggest project to lead people astray from the path of God the all-mighty.
