Ha check out the age gap with the forum starter guy. Good taste, but don't forget Floyd's 'Animals'. Fooking great.
Would I be a wanker (!) if I said Kinda Blue. Miles Davis Goldberg Variations. Glenn Gould Pet Sounds. Beach Boys Sergeant Pepper. Beatles Led Zep 2. Led Zeppelin Saturday Night Fever. Bee Gees Late Beethoven piano sonatas. Ashkenazy Ok Computer. Radiohead Cositas Buenas. Paco de Lucia Ride The Lightening. Metallica Live After Death. Iron Maiden Buena Vista social.....blah. There's so much out there folks. Try something new and see what a gift music is.!
Yes Sir, the Pink Floyd album Animals (1977) is really good! Like its predecessor, Wish You Were Here (1975), it just flows from beginning to end and repeats the use of a bookend.
You can tell when an album was through-composed, and I think Animals was one. It's so together. One great thing about my teen years was heading to the library, getting a CD that looked cool, then suddenly listening to the best music ever. How cool is that. Not music I was told to listen to by friends/media etc, just my own discoveries.
Great lists! I'll have some new sounds to audit at the gym. I collect vinyl - over 500 lps - don't get me started! Classic Rock / Prog stuff Sgt Peppers (#1 on Rolling Stones top 500) - Read the Wikipedia and you'll understand why... all done on 4 channel recording equipment - Alan Parsons helped engineer it at Abbey Road Studio. Emerson Lake and Palmer - Self titled / these guys were beyond good... Check this out- The Doors - Soft Parade Trick of the Tail - Genesis Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (Oh yeah, Parsons worked on this one too) Yes - Fragile (Roger Dean album art was awesome) King Crimson - Lark's Tongue in Aspic Any Led Zeppelin Any Steely Dan (The group was named after a strap-on dildo in William Burroughs Naked Lunch book) Any Supertramp Newer stuff RHCP - The Getaway - awesome album cover Collective Soul - Dosage Animals as Leaders (yep, that's an 8 string guitar) Daft Punk Jazz and Prog Jazz Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy Stanley Clark - School Days Anything Spyro Gyra Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow Classical Dvorak - New World Symphony Holst - The Planets Aaron Copeland - Appalachian Spring (.. and Fanfare for the Common Man - ELP covered this song) Bottom line... to much good music - not enough days in one lifetime to experience it all. Cheers, HF
Hey man. Don't be afraid to check out some Bach. It seems a bit austere ay first, but after a while it gets super good. Music: always has been better than wanking. Good taste, amigo.
