I'm kind of spending some hours on the nofap forums I think I got somewhat hooked into posting frequently and watching all the posts and threads. How do I solve this?
By posting more! Nah, what I would do is set a timer for I dunno, half an hour or an hour when you're on here. That'll give you time to check messages and posts, while limiting your time on these forums. Setting timers for anything can help really, if you're struggling with time passing by it helps a lot in my experience. I come from Facebook so I know how the obsession with looking and checking is. lol
Write a schedule and stick to it. Use an app like Brain Focus (Android) or BeFocused (IOS) and only go on here at set times and set a timer for the amount of time you're on here. You could also read this book He includes social media as addiction so it might be of help. It's on my to read list.
It's a good addiction whilst still in the throes of PMO. It's a bad addiction as you start to see some progress made in regards to PMO. It can hinder the process. It's a good habit once you've broken the back of PMO and well on the way to recovery. At some point you will have seen the whole process through and move onto greener pastures.
go cold turkey I used to use this site a lot a few years ago, then i just never touched it again for ages. I just stopped using it, and then after a while i never felt the need to check it again
I noticed that too. I think after PMO is gone your body is looking for something different you can spend hours on. I do think this website is beneficial but don't use it so much. I only check it 2-3 a day, 5 Minutes each and a little bit longer when I write my journal entry. Try to limit yourself to using this website for half an hour or hour per day. Set up a timer so you will know. You can do it like me, 5 Minutes to check out some interesting threads and maybe write an answer. Hope this helps
When I was in the throes of addiction to Nofap, and at home alone, I would observe a discipline such as making myself watch a movie the whole way through, or complete a chapter of a book, before allowing myself to once again indulge in Nofap.
That maybe an addiction, but this one is a positive addiction lol. I'be just been here a week and I love it. Checking alerts is on of the first thing I do in the morning.
I find T.V., for the most part, a state of passive mindlessness... though I find some programs engaging. By forcing myself to watch it, I strengthened my tolerance toward boredom, and better learnt how to endure my own duration. It's either the fidgeting for constant distraction, or the desire for a state of stupor, that drives people into addictions today.
As has been said, I'd think that limiting your time on here would be a great start. If you truly think it's becoming a problem and you haven't been keeping control over the situation, try to replace it with something else -- preferably something constructive -- and go from there. Maybe you could even keep a Journal of how many hours you're spending, at what times, and see if being on here is interfering with your day too much.
You need an overall goal to put your energy in. Keep yourself busy. Where do you want to be in 5 years from now?
TV is made mostly of disgusting fake-ass puppet shows made to distract us and calm us. There's nothing good on it. You can perfectly live without it.
