I'm new. Does this just mean that we don't PMO until the end of the month? Is that the whole challenge?
Great points @Adria & @Chosenrosen . This challenge is to get started or continue in the recovery in a "bite sized-manageable" fashion, designed for people like me who prefer many mini challenges that gradually increase in length, rather than one straight "No PMO for 5 years" challenge from the offset.
And one last thought.. You may want to change the nature of your challenge after this one. Say, from Hardmode to Standard Reboot (which is pretty much the same but you're allowed to O through actual sexy time with a real partner) as I am considering for myself, or vice versa. Welcome aboard @DrDoom
Orgasm with a real partner should always be an option as it helps to rewire your brain to real life! Abstaining from real sex makes very little sense...
In certain situations where one is over stimulated, it is not a bad idea to abstain completely for a period to allow one to physically recover, such as the case of porn induced erectile dysfunction (PIED), genital desensitisation, low energy, ect. Also, if you're still having sex (especially irregular sex) early on in your challenge, then the post-sex chaser effect itself may be enough to break your reboot. The point is to ultimately increase your odds of success to a full recovery from porn and masturbation so that you can have amazing mind blowing real sex.
That's true, if it's someone with ED it makes sense to abstain. About the chaser, though, you're going to get it from wet dreams either way so having irregular sex doesn't make that much of a difference in my opinion.
Interesting point on wet dreams @Adria . In this context, a difference between sex and a wet dream in my experience is the chaser after sex tends to be more intense and lasts much longer than from the wet dream. With the dream: I would wake up with this sexual energy and the "emotion" or "high" from the dream, but as soon as I force myself to get up and after 3-15 minutes, I've already forgotten half of the dream already and the high has subsided as I accept it was just a dream. With sex (especially with a new partner): I know it was real and the fresh memory of it is in "full HD", I probably also have an emotional connection along with the physical connection to them, I'm probably still hanging out with them or texting them afterwards, etc. all which may directly/indirectly remind me of sex with that person anywhere up to 48 hours later or so.
I'm in, relapsed on sunday, wanna ride this streak out with you guys, hope it will work better than taking the challenge by myself!
Take is day by day @elpamfael . just yesterday evening I started experiencing my first real temptations but considering that this particular challenge ends in only 12 days from writing this, I have a greater resolve.

So we're at the 6th day mark. Started/starting late? No problemo! We still have 10 days left! Personally, I've had 2 or 3 significant temptations so far in this challenge but I've kept them at bay by simply keeping busy with my work (I have tight self set deadlines). I'm doing well, finally on day 6! Though I've had some strong urges these past 2 days, but I've managed to pull through. Doing push-ups really helps whenever the urges strikes, haha.
