Hello, I have been struggling with porn for a long time. Whenever I watch pornography I feel like it is an impulse something I do without thinking whenever I try to resist I can’t focus and when I fap I feel like my ability to focus has increased and I can finish my work. The problem is porn takes a lot of time from my life. I can use this time to achieve my goals and reach my potential. I heard online that ADHD medication can help with porn addiction is this true.
I think is true, because these drugs make you more focus if you have a task on hand, you simply focus all your attention in it. Nothing distracts you not even sex. But I think is not a right treatment for PMO and if you don't have difficult task to do it could backfire and increase your PMO compulsion.
If you have trouble with impulse and focus, perhaps trying to practice meditation. Start with a low amount of time(what is good for you) and incrementally increase it. This can help bring awareness to your impulse and strengthen your focus. I think medication should not be your first resort for breaking away from PMO, as many carry undesirable side effects. Hope this was helpful!
I found it the opposite tbh . People take meth or amphetamines when having sex because it intensifies pleasure and the duration. Found myself becoming insanely horny on those drugs Ask anyone online whose taken these drugs they will tell you
Being someone diagnosed with ADHD, I think non-stimulants (which work over time rather than immediately; not the potent psychoactive drugs mentioned on the above comments) have allowed me to control my thoughts a little bit better... But I would not advise such an expedient for those who do not have ADHD-like symptoms, since ultimately it comes down to choice. No matter how much medication you use, the will to choice will be the only determining factor in what happens next, regardless of how tempestuous the crave may be. However, if you really are experiencing adhd-like symptoms though, you may want to speak with a professional on this matter.
In my personal experience, my anti-depression/anxiety pills made me want to masturbate much more. Like 10x more. I stopped taking it.
Use ADHD drugs only to treat ADHD, and only if properly and thoroughly diagnosed with ADHD by a medical professional. I have ADHD and I'm on Vyvanse which is an amphetamine class stimulant, and I can say after two years on it that the extra focus can work against you if you allow it. You can easily find yourself super focused on porn and before you know it three hours have passed and you've given into your urges. When first adjusting to the medication it can make you hypersexual, though it doesn't have exactly the same effect on everyone.
That's not what I meant at all I meant the effects of increased sex drive must be drug dependant as most of them kill libido
Ive already made that clear I said stimulants increase it SSRI decrease it I was talking about drug specific amongst the ssri some are libido killers some appear not to be but seems uncommon as the vast majority of people have reduced libido because of the ssri
