How to deal with cravings?

    What are your tips,tricks,recommendations on dealing with cravings especially in the least likely time, going to bed, in the shower, sitting infront of the computer. I'd appreciate anyones input. Peace!

    What kind of cravings are you referring to...food or pmo related??

  4. am92, This is a great exercise that takes only a few seconds and you can do anytime.
    I read it in a book im reading. The author says:
    "Run your open palm across your cheeks, moving from your neck up towards your eyes (opposite the way your facial hair grows). If it makes a noise, you're a man... catch yourself objectifying women or feeling immature.. its to remind you that you are an adult." -Breaking the Cycle- George Collins

    It really works for me, and if you have facial hair, i hope it works for you! Good luck!

    i think its important to have some failsafe on your brain to make you snap out of it, in a way in which you dont end up going into "autopilot" mode and back into the "old ways", so have something you can imagine, something on your desk or anywhere you can see, i dont know man, i just started to drink alot of tea as of late, i take at least 2 cups a day and i dont add sugar to it even tho i like it with honey or lemon, but it just takes me from 4th gear back to neutral, anyway that is just one thing, other could be listening to some lectures on youtube i've found out that Alan Watts and Terence Mckenna's voices just level me so good i snap out it.

    Atlanta thanks for the advice, i have facial air, albeit a tiny beard :p So take my palm and run it upwards starting from my neck towards my chin and towards my eyes? What is this suppose to do exactly, please elaborate if possible. thanks ! -A.M.

    Dire thanks for the useful advice, i think there should be a way of simply disengaging right out of the "auto-pilot" mode, i will have to find something to simply take my mind of it in case i run into such a scenario. -A.M.

    That might actually be a pretty good idea, i have sticky pages all around my desk but they have not proved successful much.. Perhaps wearing something can be a better way it is on you. Will ponder over some inspiring sayings see what i can find. Thanks again! -A.M.

    Sorry, but because I usually think about food when the word cravings comes up I got confused. That aside, I don't think humans have sexual cravings, we have sexual urges that arise from our hormones. For me to deal with urges, I adopted different ways to overcome them. It depends on your situation. If you are alone it is more difficult at first since pmo and that cycle is so habitual that trying to stop in of itself is challenging. Eventually when you build up the strength and self control you can be more effective at being consciously aware of your urges and not let them dictate your behavior. Different methods and techniques work for some but not everyone. You need to know yourself and what works for you. Here are what I do for myself and it works for me. When I see anything that is pornographic or provocative I know that it might lead me to want to go through the pmo process. I immediately find ways to get out of that environment whether it is my computer or even in a public space. You need to distance yourself from the things that can lead you to want to pmo. When you have left your room and maybe close the internet browser on the way, you can allow rational thought and self awareness to come back to your mind. Because remember that when you are in the pmo cycle you are not really thinking, your thought processes are not working since your blood and blood flow is mostly in your privates. Once you are able to think clearly, remind yourself of why you want to stay clean. Also, I have adopted Mark Quippet's advice of getting your whole body moving so that blood flows to your muscles and not your privates. Like Mark advised in a video, you should try to ride your waves as referring to our sexual urges and let it pass without acting out to your urges by fapping or letting your mind act out the porn clips in your brain. It takes practice and a lot of effort but if you seek to be clean of pmo and addiction you need to be willing to take the hard and less traveled path to being a mature and good person. I hope that that helps. Sorry about the long post but I want to be detailed so that others can come out of pmo addiction like I am seeking to do.

    DateofLies! That is some great advice! I am just trying to do that ! STOP THE FANTASIES! Mind over matter, its all how you perceive it, its all how you view it and what meaning you associate and attach to a given thing. I notice as soon as you grant slight leeway to your thoughts it becomes increasingly difficult to "resist" and fighting it seems to just lead to greater tension. And once tension is built up, you seem to be heading straight into that cycle, again, well lets hope not again. Your though pattern corresponds with mine that that sense that fantasizing will almost always trigger the impulse. So i shall work on controlling my thoughts and remain vigilant! It can be soo encouraging and uplifting to read even one sentence can make one not indulge and PMO! 50days thats a great number, i am at 5, and i suspect i will reach that number, but you know everyone who made it to 50 had to go trough 5, and that is fine with me, one day at a time, self improvement is gradual, and as long as i am learning, rewiring, and taking the path less traveled by, i am thankful and hopeful!
