some people said to me to count my days in nofap to motivate me to be more constant in the journey. and other people said to me to not count my days at all to forget about all the pornography and reprogramming my mind to another hobbies. what's the best method i can do?
Try both approaches and see what fits best for you. Maybe for some shorter streaks watching the count is more productive because it is a slippery slope for the first 2 weeks, and then from there when you gain more confidence go and "ride the wave" so to speak for a good long streak.
There is a happy medium. Just have the date written down somewhere for your last relapse. You can go check it now and then.
I'm not a fan of counting days. For me personally, when I was counting days and relapsed it would make the relapse worse because I would think, "Oh well those 5 days (or however many days) was a complete waste of time." I'm fully aware it was my addiction making me think that way. I've had the best success when I stopped counting days and started a journal. In my journal i have some columns on things I feel I need to do every day to live my best life. Each column is a question, that I answer Yes or No. For example one column is "Did I eat 85%-90% healthy today?" The column about porn is "Did I avoid porn (videos, cam shows, strip clubs) today?" The goal is to put a "yes" in each column every day and highlight it green. This way i can scroll through the journal and get an idea of how long my streak is by seeing all the green. Every once in a while I will count the days and think "okay that's great" and then the number is forgotten. This is the method that works for me, you'll have to come up with your own method.
