how do i go about explaining to my friend the harmful effects of ,not just pornography, but the media related to it (bikini models/pictures etc)? I'm trying to get my friend (childhood friend i grew up with) to quit porn because he watches it every night and he doesn't realise the underlying demise. he is well aware that pornography is bad, he admits it and carries on as per usual. one day he came across a motivational video about the effects of porn. he told me he'd quit porn and i said thats sweet and that i'd be here to help you through it. so good news is he stopped watching porn but continues to masturbate to pictures of naked girls/bikini girls. IMO, i think looking at pictures is just as bad as watching porn. its the same concept, right? you are still carving the 'perfect' image in your brain and its getting used to it. what are your thoughts? TL;DR - do you think looking at sexually enticing pictures is just as bad as porn? - edging is harmful to your brain. do you agree?
Yes to both of these questions. The only way to quit porn is to stop looking at anything sexually enticing.
My experience is very much one thing leads to another. and its too late when we realize we are addicted. I've been struggling with this for 65 years. All I can say is: If you can't stop, don't start.
I believe that the only way to stop like aaron92 is to totally true, you can not slowly cut down you must stop and fight the urges.
There's also subliminal sex used in advertising pics such as posters or magazine ads. These are known to trigger thoughts of sex too. Sometimes when we're not even looking for this kind of stuff, it's thrown in our faces. Some good examples here with a documentary near the bottom of the page as well. http://subliminalmanipulation.blogspot.com/ http://subliminalmanipulation.blogspot.com/2010/09/subliminal-messages-in-advertising-in.html http://subliminalmanipulation.blogspot.com/2010/09/sexual-innuendo-phallic-and-yonic.html
