So, as the title asks: Do you drink alcohol?

Never had much desire to drink, which kind of makes me stand out among 21 year olds. My dad rarely drinks anymore, but he used to have a couple beers maybe 4 nights a week, "to unwind". A few times he's said "man that was a stressful day, I could use a beer so I can relax." Especially after realizing how much porn screwed my head up, that never sounded appealing to me.

If anything I might like a social aspect of drinking. Dull inhibitions a bit, and hang meet people. But not really.

Used to last year. Abused it during dark times and had to give it up in order to improve my life. Haven't touched it in 11 months now.

I'll have a beer every now and then but that's all. Usually, one beer is enough for me. Sometimes I won't even drink the whole beer.

    Congrats on giving up.

I am trying to give up beer. I hadn't considered myself an alcoholic before, but giving but that one beer most days a week that I am accustomed to is proving hard.

Very rarely, had some bad experiences with it, I don't get out at all so it sort of goes hand in hand. I would avoid it anyway.

Yes, every day. Usually beer or red wine but not to the point of inebriation. I like to chill with a few beers whilst playing guitar in the evening. Plus, I have a very active social life, which often involves going to pubs/gigs. - It hasn't seemed to influence my NoFap journey, it just costs a bit more than I wish it did.
I also think the 'chaser effect' applies to booze. If you have 5 beers indoors with the guys one evening and you have one in the fridge left over, the likelihood is that you'll grab that beer. This will often lead you to go to the shop and grab more, thus creating a snowball effect.
Have I tried to cut down? Yes, with moderate success. I just like decent beer. I make it myself at home.

Fair enough. Just be aware that alcohol is a depressant. For example, it depresses/suppresses inhibitions. Therefore, it has the potential to adversely affect the NoFap challenge. Also, if you are a bit hung over, you are likely to languish longer in bed and that could provide opportunity to PMO. Not wrong in itself of course. Cheers! :p

As you know IGY, this has happened in previous streaks and I admit that this has led to my downfall before. I'm being extra careful not to do that this time. Laying in bed after waking is still a big problem for me, but that's even when not hungover :/

I realize that I contradict myself in my last post. So maybe booze HAS influenced my decision to PMO in the past, but in an indirect way.

  11. I stopped drinking alcohol and the NoFap just become much easier. (for me alcohol and craving for dopamine on the next day, was the ultimate trigger).

My best streak so far was screwed up by a hangover. I have been aiming to take it easier. I think its the hours of meditation. I enjoy a drink but no longer enjoy getting drunk.

Never had alcohol, don't plan on having it until older and even then it may just be like a glass of wine.

  17. This is quite an interesting topic to me! I have a different question for who drinks: why and how do you drink alcohol? I ask this because to me and my culture is normal, if not "a must", to have a half a glass or a glass of wine during lunch (at least at important meals); but no more than that... it used to be a way to preserve grapes for long periods and, to be honest, I don't feel the effects with such a low amount of alcohol, while the food is simply superb if it has the company of a good glass of wine...

So if the question is: do you ever drink alcohol? My answer is yes; but I never drank to get drunk, I only drink sometimes during meals and, in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it; then, if the question is: do you drink alcohol just to inebriate yourself? Then the answer is no, and I honestly believe it is a crime to waste good beverages into getting drunk or try fighting depression or whatever...

That's the way I see it...and well, the day I'll notice my glass of wine has some effects different from enriching the food, I'll give it up!

  18. I have a beer or two most nights. That's it - I rarely drink more than two.

Why? I like the taste I guess. And it seems to improve my mood a bit. Another weird reason is it helps me stay up a bit later (I don't like going to bed really early).

Yeah I'd probably be better off without it but whatever. Maybe I'll try to have a couple more booze-free nights in the week.

  19. Yes, now that you tell me I recall that sometimes a beer with friends has been also a good treat...I really don't know why it has been so long since the last time I had one...but yes, I am grateful that I never started exaggerating with alcohol, along with PMO it really can destroy your life...

  20. Only once and a while with family. I think it is important to maintain control over yourself, but also indulge occasionally. Humans need a break once in a while.
