This is my first post although I have already started my commitment to stop PMO and joined the NoFap community for almost a week now. I am new to forums in general and I feel like it will take me a while to get used to it and start posting interesting material regularly but we have to start somewhere.
I am a college student currently working on my first 15 credits toward a associates degree in arts and science. I don't know exactly what I want to do and I guess I don't really have to right now. I was thinking that I was wanting to be a doctor. I would make more than enough money and help all sort of people. Now I feel like I don't know if I want anything. I have noticed that I have little energy and motivation to do well in my classes and get a job. These are things that I know to be important and it scares me that my grades are already slipping and I am doing nothing to help my parents pay for my education and my other expenses. I decided to watch some self help videos on Youtube and that's when I found a video on the benefits of NoFap. I realized that I have nothing to lose, other than an erection and all the porn. I am on day five now. So far I've been able to resist the urges, but its slowly getting more difficult. I don't know what I am doing opening up to you guys but if I am going to take NoFap seriously I thought I would contribute to other guys that are trying this out.

    Hi Chad,

I think everyone has been there, in regards to lacking direction. Especially in the early days of college, that is completely normal. Don't feel pressured to find yourself all at once. If you rush the process, you may wind up committing to an identity that you constructed rather than discovered, and then regretting it later.

Meditation helps a lot. Focus on the long-term impactful stuff (making good grades, saving money, not damaging your health) and the other answers will come. Here's a fun primer: http://goo.gl/Z6Euks

Oh, and if you want to be a doctor, you should thoroughly enjoy going to school. If you don't like the actual process of class, homework, and exams, then you probably won't make it. There are plenty of great ways to get paid, in many cases more than a doctor would. The best is doing something you really enjoy doing. The money will come.

hi chad, congrats on the week so far. if you are feeling like undoing your hard work press the panic button on the right somewhere. there is another link to a thread about what some people do in your position. push-ups, cold shower etc.

don't be fooled thinking doctors are living idyllic lives helping people. it is so tough to become a doctor, the health services are all stretched to breaking points, no more than nurses they don't have the time to be helping people. they do their job as best they can but its just that - a job. once you rely on something to sustain you financially it loses what charm it had in my opinion.

don't get me wrong a doctors life is grand once you get over the initial hurdle of qualifying and if you want to do it go for it. but its not easy and there are so many more rewarding jobs out there too.
