Why no one is making a change to let the public know about the truth of harmful effects of PMO?

Why no one is making a change to let the public know about the truth of harmful effects of PMO?

  1. Because there are some people who think it's fine and healthy while some people who think it's bad.

    66.7%
  2. Because there is not enough research to conclude that the effects of NoFap are genuine.

    33.3%
  3. Not enough studies regrading the effects of pornography and masturbation.

    33.3%
  4. Studies shows that pornography and masturbation are healthy.

    33.3%

    Referring to this thread: https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...t-solve-please-help-all-in-one-thread.162694/

"Furthermore, when I google about it, everywhere on the Internet says it's healthy, don't worry, prevents prostate cancer, reduces stress, many people does it, and so on. Even the majority of the Quora questions say so too. Ugh...misleading information. I have something to say about this later in this post."

Referring back to what I have said earlier. Why the medical institutes, doctors, sexual health professionals, doctors are not doing any proper scientific research and experiments about the truth of masturbation? This isn't something difficult at all. In fact, it can be done just by the act of abstaining from masturbation for a period of time and experiment and gather the scientific results. They should be providing the public with accurate and correct information about the truth of masturbation, such as the side effects, harmfulness, negative effects and how toxic it is.
They should publish the real reports/results of their research, instead of keep misleading the public that masturbation is OK and let it continue to destroy many people's lives. And, why do they keep saying it is healthy? Do they even really research about it? Or maybe they thought it's normal to feel like that after masturbation... Or not enough proper thorough research.

Hey, why aren't NoFap making a change about this? Why can't this community declare to the public and announce the truth of masturbation? I also think education about all the harms of the act of masturbation (basically everything about it) should be implemented and taught to teenagers in school.

I think we should take initiative to change the perception of the public towards porn and masturbation. Anyway, what do you think, is masturbation fine or really bad due to the dopamine/addiction/etc.? Which side do you support?

There’s all these studies that say masturbation is healthy, to which I agree. But these studies don’t mention the harmful effects of excessive masturbation and porn use. So people who see these studies assume that their masturbation habits are healthy, when in reality, they probably aren’t. Porn users want to be told that what they’re doing is okay, and will seek out information that confirms their habits. I was like this until I started having sexual problems with my girlfriend. I think if more studies were done on porn users, then NoFap ideals would be more easily accessible for the general public.

  3. I’m just commenting about the porn aspect of your question.

There are groups out there trying to put out the word to the public about the dangers of porn. But not many, and their voices aren’t heard too often. The group Enough Is Enough comes to mind. I’m going to guess that 80%-90% of the people here have never heard of the group.

    My opinion here:

Why aren’t more well known groups putting out the word? It’s not convenient and it’s not politically correct to do so is my thinking on this.

If you’re privately funded you can go out and say all you want against porn. But it’s not convenient to do so. It isn’t easy getting the funds to go out speaking against porn because people either love it, ashamed to admit they’re affected negatively by it, or simply don’t care. They aren’t going to donate money to the cause.

If you’re publicly funded you have to watch what you say. Political Correctness says do your best not to piss anyone off. You don’t want your funds cut off because you offended a large segment of the population that thinks porn is wonderful.

I think this will be a good discussion.

Addiction to PMO is leaving behind a lot of ruined relationships, angry/bitter people, and people that are falling way short of their real potential (meaning instead of going out and doing great things they’re doing the minimum and wasting most of their time PMO-ing).

Yet there isn’t much said about it.

  4. I have been using pmo for years. Always believed it was healthy and normal.

Since i found out about nofap, my life has only gone upwards. I'll never go back to the pmo lifestyle.

Whenever someone tries to aware the public of the negative effects of PMO, the general public loses all reason and gets emotional. They accuse us of being all manner of things: Being religiously motivated, or being unscientific. They call us every name under the sun. Many silencing tactics.

They go to extreme lengths to justify their obsession with PMO, and feel personally attacked when someone simply raises the possibility that PMO is harmful.

I think organizations don't bother to increase public awareness for a few reasons. First, they don't want their credibility tarnished by receiving all the abuse and negative attention the Pro-PMO public would send their way.

Second, people are afraid to make an inference or logical deduction by themselves. They will only say or affirm something if it's been confirmed in a lab or by a scientist. Even though anyone can see, by logical deduction, that the dis-regulation of Dopamine caused by excessive PMO, and the association of the brain with P is a classic case of conditioning.

In my opinion, MO (in its purest form) is not inherently harmful in moderation. P is the issue. And many people don't want to give it up.

Anyway, NoFap is making ground. People are catching on.

The good news is there is more and more published science on the adverse effects of PMO. See The Your Brain On Pron website's research section. It links to hundreds of studies.
