    Why is hard mode recommended?
Like I read even orgasm with a partner would hinder progress. Why is that?

I'm Single and probably will be for awhile. So that's OK. But just wondering what good it is doing.

  2. Well I believe you still get a high dose of dopamine after intercourse, and that won't help in recovery, because dopamine is one of the biggest reason's why were hooked to PMO.

It comes down the motto: "neurones that fire together wire together". Your brain can't tell the difference between pixels on a screen and a real life partner. PMO is much more rewarding than sex with a real life partner because of the Coolidge effect. The Coolidge Effect says that the first time you have sex with a partner you get a huge dopamine release. The next time you have sex with them it's less rewarding, and every subsequent tme thereafter it's less rewarding still. PMO gives you a constant stream of novelty, so every single new video is, to your brain, a new partner.

If you've been wiring your sexual responses to PMO then you are going to crave that to get your reward. Every time you have sex with a partner you're essentially keeping your sexual reward circuits alive, which if they're wired to PMO makes them harder to extinct. The idea is to extinct the old pathways and then rewire them with real life interactions.

This is all anecdotal so we don't actually know if hard mode is better but that's roughly the theory behind recommending hard mode. The most important thing is to quit porn.

    You're welcome :)

I'd recommend checking out the following, it goes into all these concepts in a lot more detail (and is a good resource during the process): http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/
