Why do guys touch themselves in sleep?

Is it normal for guys to touch/edge in their sleep every night?
Is it associated to sexual thoughts or dreams?
Is it possible for guys to play with themselves with no sexual thoughts, arousal whatsoever?

    Thanks.

  2. I don't know the answer to your questions but if you had a 6" clitoris maybe you would touch it too.

The subconscious mind is taking over. The primal part our brain is always thinking "reproduce". When we sleep the conscious part of our brain that controls ourselves shuts down, so at times we do strange things. LOL.

I don't think I've ever heard of any guy who played with himself in his sleep EVERY night, in my personal experience it happens rarely and it's usually connected to sexual dreams. I do have a friend who starts touching his gf all the time while he's asleep though.
Guys can touch their junk without getting hard. Depends on the thoughts you have while doing so.

Cool, thanks for your input. Like I mentioned to someone else, maybe I'm getting paranoid by trying so hard to NOT touch MYSELF, that I'm hypersensitive of him touching himself...even in his sleep which is pretty pathetic of me...

I don't believe this at all. During the stages of sleep that the conscious brain is not active, motor activity ceases as well. Edging should really not be possible. I think the question is what are the nature of the movements, is it purposeful or is it more random? Presumably one is going to be touching themselves all over during sleep, it's not going to be considered unusual if one touches their leg or the stomach or something else. If there are sheets it's going to be tough to see what is happening, maybe there is an abrasion on the leg that is nearby, there are many possibilities. Is it associated with dreaming? Presumably it is not during REM sleep because paralysis occurs during that time, and this is the period most associated with dreams.
