Just watched the very first Spiderman movie the other day and thought that Tobey Maguire's role as Spiderman was way better than Andrew Garfield or tom Holland. I just wanted to know if it's just me who thinks so.

  2. Sorry, i thought he was the worst. Overall i like andrew garfield, i thought he played both spiderman and peter parker very well (vs tom holland who think played a good spiderman but a questionable peter parker)

Tobey Maguire definitely played the best spider-man and no other actor afterwards has ever come close!

I honestly liked Tobey the most, and while the films were a bit cheesy I absolutely love them, a guilty pleasure. I enjoy kicking back and seeing them once in a while. ;)

I love the Tobey Maguire Spider-man movies a lot, but I don't mind tom holland but kind of hate Andrew Garfield.

To be honest, Andrew Garfield couldn't act. Toby Maguire knew how to act and he had good movies he's been in. The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 were so freaking pointless and soulless.

Yeah I couldn't dig Garfield, it felt like a hipster Peter Parker. The only small redeeming thing about him was that he tried to be a smart ass or joke around. Garfield's first suit was downright abysmal though. Of course it's only my opinion.

I do like Tobey the best, last person I said that to said I was crazy lol. Everyone raves about the second being the best superhero movie of all time but I still have number 1 as my favorite. The Green Goblin having the option to unmask Spidey but doesn't and his speech about people eventually hating the hero really resonated with me. Plus it never fails to make me laugh when The Green Meanie says " I SURRENDER!" lol

I like them all honestly. Each of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. It's hard picking which one is my favorite.

I think Andrew Garfield played the best "Solo" Spider-man (where he's not in the MCU, and keyword Spider-Man.). His TASM 2 Costume looked great, it was basically a modern Tobey costume. His TASM 1 just looked crappy, like they were trying something new but just fucked it up. I think it was the eyes. If they just went with the regular white eyes, it would have been a lot better. But his Peter Parker was...too good. Like it's too perfect for "Peter Parker". Pete is a quiet, introverted average joe. A person you would never think is Spider-Man. As in there's nothing about him that would draw attention, it's supposed to be a huge contrast compared to Spider-Man. I get that they tried new things, and his Peter Parker was still good. But that's just my opinion.

Tobey Maguire was the Spider-Man I saw as a kid, so I might be nostalgia-biased. But when compared to the other two, Tobey definitely played a great Peter Parker (probably the best out of him, Garfield, and Tom.), like I said about Garfield. Peter is a quiet, introverted average joe. If you made a list of people who could be Spider-Man, Peter Parker would not be on that list. His Spider-Man wasn't as good Andrew's overall, but it was better in some ways. He's less reliant on Oscorp, he's more heroic and selfless, and he believes in "with great power, comes great responsibility", which if Andrew's Spidey believed, maybe Gwen Stacy would still be alive.

But both Tobey and Andrew suffered from the same issue when playing the character. One bled into the other. Andrew's Spider-Man was outgoing, energetic, upbeat, happy all the time, cracking jokes a lot, which is what Spider-Man should be. But that also led to his Peter Parker being "too perfect" like I mentioned before. Tobey's Peter Parker was quiet, shy, and nerdy. Which is what Peter Parker should be, but that led into his Spider-Man being quiet and distant. He focuses on saving people more than Andrew would, and believes with great power comes great responsibility. But he doesn't really interact with people all that much, he usually just saves them and then lets them be. He was like a safety net. Not really a person.

Tom Holland falls smack dab in the middle. Right now, he might have the "Tobey Maguire Peter Parker" problem I mentioned earlier, but to a lesser extent. He plays a good Peter Parker, but his Spider-Man is also kinda shy. He just doesn't really have much of the humor as much as Andrew would. But I can definitely see him getting wittier as time goes on, he was great in Infinity War. I just don't like how young he is. I get that they try to appeal to a younger audience. And I like that. But high school is a shitty time, trust me, I'm gonna be a senior and I hate it there. I like College Peter better. I just wish he grew some balls, maybe he will. We haven't seen much of him. He was the protagonist in one film, and a supporting character for two others.

    But that's just my opinion.

Your right.I guess a lot of people like Tobey because of the nostalgia and I'm no exception ;)

Nostalgia is also a big factor
When I was in 3rd standard our school takes our classes to see the Spiderman 1
And that was really a great experience for an 8 year old
And next time again when I was in 6th our school cheated us they told us that they will show Harry Potter ......but when we went there it was again Spiderman 1
.....so I have seen Spiderman 1 twice in cinema hall
......and the next year I went out with my cousins to watch 3rd part
    That experience was fabulous ......
And I also the storyline of Toby's spider was good...
I have not seen homecoming but I have seen that kid in civil war........and he was also good ....... better than Garfield ......
    So Toby>kid>Garfield
    Andrew storyline was worst
    No Mary Jane
    No good antagonist ..
But yes he is most good looking Peter parker

  14. I grew up watching the 90s animated series of spiderman and thats how i really think of spiderman, so even as a kid the tobey maguire spiderman movies bummed me out. Andrew garfields portrayal is closer to the series in that hes less of a geek.

I think this is more about personal preference rather than good or bad. I also have to say I prefer the awkward, nerdy Tobey Maguire Spider-Man over the "kewl", skateboarding Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, I feel it makes for a better contrast between Peter Parker and Spider-Man (also nostalgia). That's not to say that Andrew Garfield's version was bad. Don't remember much about Tom Holland, but I guess he was alright too.

Reminder that Peter probably made Uncle Ben kill himself.

Didn't you know that Andrew Garfield got fired a few days before the sequels and a spin-off all got canceled and has been canned? That dude is an egotistical freak.

I didn't know this, it's a shame when actors are actually like that. I did enjoy his role in The Social Network, or maybe that was just him being himself lol

He skipped a meeting which angered the producers of the film
And he was showing attitude...... That's why he was replaced
