Any style of music...who is the greatest?

My vote is probably for Jaco. Yes, I realize the obviousness of that pick, but he is really good.

Same here. After hearing the bass in their songs and then seeing Mike play his ass of on MTV, I was hooked. That’s why I started playing bass.

 

Cool. I play bass too. I learned and excelled at jazz as my main style, but I still remember learning Brian Stew in my friends basement after about 3 lessons.

 

Nobody mentioned the legendary Cliff Burton here.. One of the best bassists in the world ! May his soul R.I.P.. Apart from him yeah Duff Mckagan from GN'R is pretty good & so is Colin Edwin from Porcupine Tree !!

 

I realized just now Sting didn't make the list either.

 

True that, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Eric Clapton, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson you name them.. British bands are greatest rock bands man!!
