I've heard and read with a great enough reason "Why" you can push through and conquer any obstacle. I've lost my "Why" somewhere over the years. What are some of your "Whys" that help you push through temptation?

I was thinking the other day that compassion is the ultimate act of rebellion in this world. It's like everywhere you look, or I look, people don't really care. They may not do bad things, but there's a lot of the "not my problem" attitude.

Even in the recovery world, there's a lot of high quality support - but a lot of it is only available at a price. Great if you have the money, but obviously that's a very different why than just wanting to help others who suffer from something.

So my whys are because it's about what makes me human, and it's a constant reminder that I'm not interested in just playing the same game of the status quo. I don't expect people to care as much, for a long time people didn't care about a lot of substance addiction but now it's an accepted thing. But that's a very important distinction: It's not about what most people accept/believe as true or is an issue, it's being true to myself and what I know and how I choose to live. Because of this, I realized the other day there are a lot of otherwise good women I can not be in a relationship with because it wouldn't interest them to be of service and they may very well have some stigma against a recovery community, especially one like this. It's much easier to please and have fun with one person than serve a whole community of recovery addicts, but I'm okay with that.

And I realize the pace of the addiction in the collective may very well be faster than the number of people and amount of effort they put into supporting recovery, but that doesn't mean we can't make a difference. If I can push through obstacles in my own life it's because I've decided to take on this entire issue for anyone else who may be suffering from it even if it has no end. Of course, with these kinds of odds it may call for strategies of guerrilla warfare..
