I’m a 22 year old guy. Had been PMOing for the last 7 years.

However hypocritical that this might sound, I’m a virgin and I’m hoping to keep myself that way until marriage due to religious reasons.

Since i joined NoFap a few weeks ago, i had been reading a lot of posts about PIED. I did my research elsewhere to know more about it — symptoms treatments etc. But nowhere could i find a way to figure out if i had pied or not. Virtually everyone talks about it in relation to those having sex. So i was wondering if someone here could help me

    Hopefully helpful clues:
    • I get morning wood ok
    • Wet dreams every 7 days
    • Can masturbate without porn
    • Can get an erection and masturbate with non pornographic material
    • Can masturbate just by fantasying in the mind and not using any material
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Nah you’re ok!

Cut down on the P and you’ll definitely be fine

  3. This a good question. I'm a virgin myself and I'm in my 30's and sometimes I do worry about PIED.

You do not have PIED. :)
The last three bullet points in the OP are the crucial ones. Someone with PIED needs porn to get hard. :( Some need very taboo or extreme porn to get/keep an erection long enough to cum. If you have such issues then you clearly have PIED.

I wouldn't call it hypocritical. You are successfully abstaining from one and struggling to abstain from the other. Is an alcoholic who abstains from junk food, crank or smoking hypocritical? Simply because you failed to resist temptation in one area doesn't mean that the "authentic" course would be to just therefore given wholesale. I say good for you and good for you for being on here to confront this very difficult problem.

I guess that’s one way to look at it. Thanks a lot for your kind words of encouragement.

I have to disagree with that. I have PIED and do not need porn. Just by imagining some sexy scenario in my head, and slowly working the story to escalate more and more and become more and more taboo I'll be diamond hard in a matter of seconds. Wether you look at extreme porn or imagine it, it doesn't make a difference, the end result is the same - you're still reconditioning your brain to ask for that and not a real life person, that's the whole problem.

Actually, we are in agreement. I just I did not fully state the situation, in an effort to be brief, I suppose. "Imagining some sexy scenario in my head, and slowly working the story to escalate more and more and become more and more taboo I'll be diamond hard in a matter of seconds." <- A porn fantasy (rather than a person before you in real life) is needed to get a hard on.

Hmm. Maybe you’re right. In my case though it doesn’t really have to be a taboo fantasy. I can get aroused by the thought of sleeping with or kissing or cuddling with my girlfriend. Does that make any difference?

How is NoFap helping you? Care to share?

If that's the case for you, then you shouldn't have a problem.

For your second question, NoFap has yet to help me. Generally, when you get into the PMO cycle very early on it takes A LOT more time to be 'cured'. First time I watched porn is when I was 10, started doing it regularly and masturbating when I was 11. I'm 23 now and see how much damage it has done to me. The whole arousal/attraction mechanism is wrong and rewiring that takes so much time. The brain has physically altered its neural pathways to expect super stimulation in a very specific manner and any other type of stimulation doesn't do anything. To change those pathways you need to not feed them what they crave for a veeery long time (many months, maybe even a year). Plus, that's only half of the equation. You also need to build new ones, much more sensitive, so that they react to the right thing. Doing that requires lots of psychological thought towards how much you desire to enjoy kissing/cuddling/touching a real life person instead of what you experience with porn. Plus changing your masturbatory habits to reflect more on what real sex is and how that feels rather than the way you're used to pleasuring yourself.

Basically, lots of work ahead, but knowing you're on the right path is half the battle :)

Hey, now that you’re over 200 days clean, how would you describe your condition now? Better?
