Lately I've been stressed a lot more than usual. School, work, health, everything is just hitting me at once right now. As a result I've been PMOing everyday for the past few days. I've noticed the type of porn I watch is progressively getting more and more extreme and it's getting out of hand.
I've tried meditation and I've had some success with it in the past. But I'm looking to permanently replace the habit of PMO with meditation.
Any advice or words of wisdom on meditation?
    Thanks guys.

I don't have anything too specific for you.

Just know that what you're trying to do is one of, if not the single best thing, you can do to stop your PMO habit.
Meditation will make your more patient, more aware, and give you stronger willpower, which are all very valuable qualities to noticing and resisting your urges and then channeling that energy into something productive.

I'd try to avoid guided meditations, and focus on building your own personal routine, that's unique to you. Something you can do anywhere, without relying on any technology. What good is meditation if you're always looking for new guided meditation programs on YouTube??
You can create your own routine without technology by continuously reading books on meditation, creating an initial routine from there, and adapt it based off what the authors recommend and what you think will work best for you. I can recommend a couple books to you, if you'd like.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey giggleshmack,
It would be awesome if you could recommend some books on mediation. I'd love to look into it and develop a routine for myself.
    Thanks!

Ukerbr - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alnDqY1Hdow & you can read also The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. As mentioned above in the post you must really experince it by yourself, reading even a thousand books might not help you. Here's a simple trick - Try looking at a watch for 2 minutes without letting your mind sway at anything else but the moving arrows. No thoughts at all just watching the watch. Most people can't even do that for 10 seconds (including me lol). But if you manage 2 minutes you can accomplish anything you set for yourself.

  5. Thanks for the Link Mr. fapequalsdeath. I'd Watch this Video in My Spare Time.Seems Good.
-I agree with Giggleshmack.I've Tried Guided Meditation,It Will First Help you in Concentrating quickly than self-meditation.But I've Realised that Most of the Videos aren't really meditation Videos. Some are good, but Only for Beginners. You Can watch them for few days.
And other thing is that You Might get Stuck into the Internet/Youtube if You Watch Guided meditations.Eventually You'll get bored of the same video and will search for other ones.Use Guided Meditation when You're in SERIOUS crisis type of situation.{You'll realize one day that There aren't any so called crisis situations.}When You are Very Down, feeling bad about something, just put up your headphones and listen to "Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guided meditation videos" On Youtube.

justcause47 - you have masturbated every day (mostly with porn) since 12 February, so I don't think meditation is the answer for you.

  8. You're not meditating on your root chakra, are you? Because that is bound to bring up some strong urges. Instead, try drawing your sexual energy to your stomach chakra.

The absolute best is "Wherever You Go, There You Are" by John Kabat-Zinn. And I completely agree with giggleshmack that guided meditation is a waste of time. This isn't about a mystical journey from here to some other place. It's about finding a way to be fully present right here and right now and understanding the difference between yourself, on one hand, and the thoughts, feelings and externally imposed narratives, on the other hand. It takes some work, but it is SO worth it.

It probably isn't the answer all by itself, but it most definitely can be a part of the answer.

I just posted this in another thread, however here it is:

Meditation is great. It's one of the first things I stop before all hell (internally) breaks lose, and my outward actions then reflect the internal madness.

Meditation is a personal journey, and I know everyone here is just trying to help.. However, start with whatever YOU can do. If it's one minute great. What is most important is you are in the process of starting a meditation journey / routine/ practice.

There is tons of ways to meditate. Find one that works for you. Improvise. The idea of it is to clear out your mind, and tap into the inner resources deep within (your spirit)

I was shown a method almost a decade ago, which is simple, and effective. I've recently adapted a little different strategy.. However this one is simple, It's 3 steps.

Get comfortable. Take some deep breaths.

    1. Drop into the body (ie. focus on a part of your body. perhaps your belly, as it goes up and down on each breath) Drop into the body, any energy in your mind, drop it onto a specific part of your body and keep the focus there. When your brain starts going again (ie. this is stupid. whats for dinner. that girl was hot at the grocery store) When your brain starts going again, drop in the body. Keep doing this step.

    2. Stay in the moment. (ie. dropping into the body will pretty much by default keep you in the moment. when the mind goes to take you out of the moment, go to step 1, drop into the body)

    3. Accept everything as it is (ie. anything that happens outwardly or internally, just accept, let it be, and stay in the moment.

Practice these 3 steps, a minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Anything. Do it every day. Remember stay comfortable. And breathe.

Anyhow I learned that above and it catapulted me into meditation, and the benefits of it. Recently I've adapted a sort of yoga/meditation deal. More like yoga / stretching prior to the above steps. I do stretching for 20 minutes give or take, then it follows by a 15-20 minutes of the above, for a total of 40-45 minutes of mind body and spirit meditation.

Thats just me though, the benefits are unreal. So unreal I always question why I stop

    Anyhow, hope this helps!
