Thoughts on this strategy?

So I’ve come up with this strategy as far as avoiding P goes. It’s sort of like a second line of defence. So I have the main goal, and that is the one thing I strive for, and that’s to not watch P, and preferably not M. But I was wondering if it’s helpful to make a plan for failure in that to avoid a total relapse, like saying “If I do, I will make 100% sure there is nothing more than faces in whatever videos/images.”

I can see a potential advantage and disadvantage in this. The advantage is that it may help cushion relapses so they aren’t quite as damaging, but the disadvantage is that in the moment it could be used as an excuse to relapse when you wouldn’t have otherwise.

    So thoughts?

I agree with both, but you're just setting yourself up for a "less damaging relapse". Don't. Don't relapse. A loss is a loss, whether it's by a point or 50 points. Fuck moral victories. There is no moral victory in this addiction. Moral victories are for people who can't deal with defeat, so they look for something to grasp onto to lessen the pain of defeat. You can beat this bullshit! Like Adrian tells Rocky before he fights Apollo Creed; "Win".

I honestly think when you have an urge, it's to M. I mean, think about it. It's actually tangible. P is not. When you want to M, you probably just prefer to watch P with it.

Training yourself to not M might help to.

Yeah, I’m going for no P or M. Actually for me though, I find resisting the urge to M easier than the urge to watch P. Since I’ve started nofap I’ve realised that I have a much more mental addiction than a physical one. It’s almost automatic, to the point that what makes it difficult isn’t gathering the willpower, but actually trying to not do it. Once I decide not to it’s easy af. I dunno if any of this made any sense but I’m super tired lol.

It made perfect sense. I overlooked the mental aspects. I had a very monolithic view until I saw your post.

So, M only if necessary then? That may calm your libido here and there.

I'll develop a strategy for you if you need it. But, this is truly fascinating.

Nope, it doesn’t work. What seems like a safety net doesn’t really provide any safety. It’s like offering a weed addict a blunt and saying “you can only take one puff.” Not gonna happen. Also caused me to relapse. Ugh. There weren’t even any physical urges, it was just out of habit. What do you reach for when you’re bored, procrastinating, and don’t have the creativity to make music? P. So to anyone reading this...

    DON’T TRY THIS STRATEGY.

Your best strategy is to find a new pleasent hobby or work or charity that takes 6 hours a week or a hour daily and make that hour is the trophy for your (patience and hard working the whole day)...many found fishing in weekend a good one and others found video games ...in a nutshiell replaxe your bad addict with a good addict

  8. You answered your own question already. It’s an excuse to relapse. As others have said a better strategy is to make yourself busy with hobbies to distract yourself from the mindset of masturbating when you have nothing better to do.

I read, listen to music/podcasts, YouTube videos, PS4, drawing, gym etc... An endless list of things that you can replace porn with. With none of the side effects of PIED. Win win.
