This is how to stop wet dreams...

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by AlltheRageBackHome, Dec 12, 2015.

  1. Even the thread title itself sounds suspicious right :D

Don't worry. Relax. Come into this with an open mind.
I thought I'd make a topic about this because many are always asking the question. How do I stop wet dreams? And people seem to be very concerned about having wet dreams and its leading to chaser effects etc... This is brought up a good few times a week, if not more, on various posts.

Out of nothing but wanting to genuinely help people, I thought I'd finally make a post about this.

I'm not sure how long this thread is going to be, but as always, I like to be as detailed as possible when helping others, leaving nothing out, so if you're someone who has wet dreams often and wants to know how to go about stopping them, please, stick around.

So, as most teens, I too used to get wet dreams, which started in my mid teens. It would happen a few times a week, and I'd feel deflated afterwards, sapped of my energy. I then took up meditation, somewhere in my early twenties.

A few people, as some of you are aware, have spoken of the power and benefits of meditation, it's effects and how it can even help with wet dreams. I've spoken about it too on different posts, but I thought it would be necessary to just finally make one official post about it, and here I'll explain the ins and outs, how and why this works.

Some of you might label this is as pseudo science and just shut down the idea, but as the old saying goes, "don't knock something till you've tried it". I've not had a wet dream in over 3 years and it stopped the moment I took up meditation.

    Let me explain.
We are comprised of mind, body and soul (although it's okay if you want to disagree with this). Just play along for now ;)
Your mind is your thought patterns, your intellect, your ability to be logical and rational etc... We know what the body is already, so I wont go into that. However, your soul is your ability to feel. It's your emotional centre. It's who YOU are.

I could say a lot more, however, cutting a long story short, whilst you're asleep, your mind is trying hard to fight off your sexual urges. You've been creating thought patterns whilst you're awake, which consists of "do not masturbate, do not masturbate, do not masturbate." When you're asleep, your mind is still trying to recreate those thought patterns to protect yourself, but your soul has it's own agenda. I'll give you an example. Those of you who are rebooting and are serious about NoFap, you know that when you see a 'sexy' looking woman on the street, you want to look and fantasise about her. Your mind is telling you not to, but something else is going on in your soul, which causes you to look anyway. Your rational mind is telling you "hey, this might not help with your rebooting process", but your soul says "just go with the feeling. You know looking at her will make you feel great." Your soul wants you to have that dopamine rush, so bad.

Everything I've just explained in that example is exactly what happens in the sleep state. The same battle is taking place.
So, back to meditation. What meditation does, is it allows for mind, body and soul to be aligned once again, to be in harmony with itself. Meditation is simply just turning off all noise, putting everything on silent and just being with yourself without allowing thoughts to pass by. Just being still.
Meditation allows for the mind and soul to no longer be in an argument. In your sleep state, your soul is desperate for that orgasm, for that dopamine rush. For that feeling.

Society is constantly pushing for our mind, soul and body to be in a fragmented state. Most of society today, and most people are DEEPLY out of touch with who they are, with their true essence, uniqueness and brilliance as an individual. People are too preoccupied with TV shows, social media and gadgets. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily knocking these things. Even though I myself don't watch TV and I'm not on any social media, I'm not at all saying everyone has to do what I do, or be monks and shut everything away. However, I am encouraging you as men (and women too) to come back to yourself often, to come back to your essence and let your pure energy flow. We block up our beautiful energy by investing our energy into TV and such things. Allow yourself to be more important than these things.

So, if you don't do meditation already, and want to test this out to see if it works. Start by meditating at least 10 minutes a day. Of course, longer is always better, but start off small if you want to. Nothing wrong with that. The more you get into a rhythm of doing this, the easier and easier it gets. I promise you. Meditation soon becomes second nature. Your wet dreams might not stop instantly, because everyone chooses to progress at different speeds. Remember, it's a choice. When I learned about meditation, I went all the way in. I've always been quite an all or nothing person, but that's just me.
The more seriously, and the more time you invest into meditation, the quicker you're going to see your wet dreams decreasing. Once we separate ourselves from distractions in general, and focus more on ourselves and our soul, you're already ahead of the game, and wet dreams will be less.

I still get sexual dreams from time to time, but no more ejaculation, ever. The dreams themselves are extremely rare too. I've literally had times where I've fought women off of me in my dreams. In the dreams, my will kicks in (due to myself strengthening my will of the soul through meditation in my awake state). Your mind is powerful and it remembers. This has happened to some of you before too.

Soon, if you get into a regular flow of meditation, you wont even need to do it that much any more. The more you just use your thoughts and intentions to become one with yourself, paying attention to your emotional state at all times, the more you'll naturally feel in a meditative state anyway. I no longer need to meditate everyday. I already feel quite removed from the so called 'norms' that society has thrown in our faces.
Remember, the eyes are the gateway to the soul. Even though you're not necessarily watching porn, just by watching huge amounts of TV, you are still taking in images of women, attractive women constantly and your brain registers this and remembers it, so when you go to sleep, what happens? Your brain regurgitates the images and everything you've viewed throughout the day. This is why you'll dream about having sex with a woman you only saw for a few seconds walking down the street. And this is why we do not advocate fantasising. Your brain will register her. I mean, when you think about it, this all sounds pretty obvious right?

In my early days, I recognised TV as being one of the root causes of my wet dreams, because of all the different images I was taking in. Of course, PMO will always be the main cause of wet dreams, though. No question about it, but there are many other smaller causes.

Another important thing to remember is, our emotional state, unprocessed emotions and unhealed emotions play out in our sleep, and can cause all sorts of things to happen, such as nightmares and can also trigger wet dreams as well. You may be angry about something, or stressed, and because your will power is naturally and generally weaker whilst you're asleep, it's going to turn to what it's used to, and that's PMO as a release. So what am I saying? The more we can deal with our emotions while we're awake, the clearer and more peaceful our sleep will be. Feel all of your pain, sadness and pent up emotions while you're awake. Don't run from them. Feel them and experience them. Cry often if you have to. All of these things are therapeutic and it cleanses the soul. You release negative emotions by feeling them. You're loving yourself by doing this. When you choose to neglect your emotions and run from them, you are not loving yourself. You need to embrace your emotions, because they are a part of you. Feel and experience all emotions, whether they are painful or pleasurable. Makes no difference. It's your birthright to do so.

I can assure you, this works, and it is the only way to get rid of wet dreams, as far as I am currently aware. Of course, it's not a relapse if you have one, but it is setting many people back and I can understand why, so thought I would offer help.

Many others have understood the power of meditation and emotional processing, but I'm here to shed light on the reasons it works. Many others have testified to meditation getting rid of wet dreams also. It's no longer uncommon.

I'm pretty sure there's more that I could have said here, but please feel free to ask any questions. I'd be more than glad to assist.

    Thanks.

    Man I love this thanks.
Yes meditation is super essential for transcending sex to the superconsciousness!
If I can sum up your entire post in a few words, it would be:
Breathe calmly, slow and deep into your belly and feel your body and its aliveness to stay in the present moment with all its good/bad things without any judgement

Preventing wet dreams seems so unnecessary to me. It is a natural process, so what can be unhealthy about it, right? Secondly, what happens if you do not get rid of unwanted semen. Well, it can be absorbed back into the body, so I can see the argument for the fact that it is not lost. However, in many cases including mine, semen is simply released when I use the toilet. In this case, semen is lost and is passed as waste. That is natural and I don't have a problem with that either.

    I don't know, I might try this.

  5. Fair enough, my good sir.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's unsafe, and it's never done any harm by not having wet dreams, as I haven't had one for over 3 years now, but it seems to set many back, due to the chaser effects and added horniness after experiencing the wet dreams and the feelings (usually PMO related) that comes from it. It sets many downhill, especially the new comers to NoFap.

By eliminating wet dreams, it has honestly only enhanced my life, and hope it does for others who may be struggling with wet dreams.

Just a question, do you ever feel blue balls? And what are some other benefits by this?

  7. Hi.
I don't get blue balls any more. Used to when I was in my teens after edging, but that's all stopped now.

The benefits of not having wet dreams or something else?
By eliminating wet dreams, it has been easier to go on longer streaks without the 'distractions' of wet dreams, leaving me feeling horny and energy drained. By not having wet dreams any more, my energy is always at a peak, meaning that I'm also able to enjoy the 'benefits' of NoFap in greater abundance.

    I hope that helps :)

Actually, this is a good point @AlltheRageBackHome, and the most persuasive one it seems to me. We have had others in the past (Clumsy for example, before he was banned), that were extreme in pushing a 'no wet dreams' agenda. I found this position baffling. In my own case, I had wet dreams occasionally during my initial reboot (but after 70 days, I have never had one since). My release came every few days as I mentioned above. There are no chaser effects or increased horniness when semen is released during or after urination. So, maybe the orgasm or lack of it is the key factor after all. Who knows?

Your comments above are reasonably put and I hope they help those troubled by the after effects of their wet dreams. :)

Why did Clumsy get banned? I don't know him, but I'm curious.

It was quite a while ago. But I think it was that after several warnings he kept insulting people, which is against the rules.

  11. I seriously look forward to wet dreams. I mean it's a natural phenomenon so it's something I'm okay with, and I know that if I can get to the point where I start having wet dreams my sex drive decreases dramatically...

  12. Well, my friend, you're the very first person I've said say that they actually look forward to wet dreams. By the time you get further in your progression, come day 30, day 60, you'll begin to detest them more and more. I'd be surprised if you were still saying such things by day 90. I never used to get wet dreams before watching porn when I was young, so in some cases, you could argue that a lot of it is PMO related. Many feel like going to use PMO after wet dreams due to the chaser effects, so my view is that you can't necessarily view them as "good".

Abstaining from PMO alone will insanely increase your sex drive and you do not need wet dreams to do that. Your body naturally creates it's own healthy sex drive and you don't need anything external to help that.

I would like to have a wet dream. I haven't had one in a long time.

  14. Fair enough lol. It's up to you, mate.

  15. Well I actually went two years pmo free, and continued to have wet dreams occasionally. They are completely natural and at least for me, I do nothing to bring them on. I feel like they helped me control my urges, especially at first. I don't look forward to the dream part, or the orgasm. It's about the sexual release of tension it brings. It keeps me going.

  16. But that's what I'm saying. The sexual release that you feel you need is an illusion in you built within you by society. This is such a Western thing to say. Those in the Eastern part of the world, and the Egyptians went their whole lives not having sex, because of the incredible benefits of semen retention. It is a typical Western mindset to think you need sex to get by. You don't. As humans, we far more powerful and capable than what we've been taught. The matrix we live in is literally built and designed to get men to waste and lose their semen 24/7 around the clock. Many rich people and those in leadership positions know this, as if it's common sense.

We live in a quick fix society. We want and need everything now. It's the Western society that we've grown up in is what has distorted us. Sex on the go, click on a website and have an orgasm instantly. It completely fucks up the brain. These who live in different parts of the world are more in touch with their actual true essence as human beings and know about the vitality in the semen. We want a quick "tension release", because we want an escape. We live in an escapist mindset society, because we do not want to feel our true emotions, so we look for external things to distract us all the time.

Wet dreams are caused by an imbalance in your energy chakras. Stop writing it off as normal, just because it's what Western society tells you. Stop easily believing the lies. It's not normal, as I've explained in this lengthy thread that I've started here. If you actually took the time to read it all, you'd see that I explained that wet dreams are caused by an imbalance between mind, body and soul, and when you meditate, you align them, hence, why the wet dreams stop... The fact that there's a way stop them already tells you something. Having them is not necessary. You do not need semen release. That is your own personal issue, not something the human body actually needs.

  17. Ya. I mean I went two years without pmo and even with wet dreams they were the best two years of my life.

  18. Ya its okay. I dont want to argue or anything. I just credit my abstinence to God. I did a lot of praying and a whole lot of bible reading lol. I called out to him and he rescued me. That's what I know is gonna happen again. Hopefully this time

It's the subconscious that is dysfunctional, not soul. The soul is deathless. Some traditions say the soul isn't changed. The mind is the what is aligned with higher purpose.

When one says my soul. There is two entities. You and your soul. Then arises duality and separation.

  20. No such thing as subconscious. The subconscious is what we've purposely distorted our minds with, we just do not realise it. I'm already aware that the soul is deathless. That's not the point. When you sleep, it's your soul that gives into the sex, the mind is not wanting you to do it. If we hadn't watched porn, the soul would be stronger and able to fight. It is a daily battle between mind and soul. My mind is strong, the soul wants to do it's own thing.

The mind is not who you are, the soul is, so I have to disagree that the mind is what is of higher purpose. You can't train your mind and then neglect the soul. The mind is not your nature or character, the soul (emotional) part of yourself is who you are. New age are very much into the mind and intellect and completely neglect their emotions. This is damaging, because it doesn't deal with the root cause of the issues. You're just skipping over it.

Dysfunction literally enters the soul, and you can't get rid of emotional dysfunction by doing mind work. You get rid of dysfunction by feeling it. It's an emotional process. You can only skip over things with the mind for a while, but the emotions in your soul that you choose to neglect will always catch up with you.
