Can someone who has seen one post about how it went and if it helped you or not?

What made it help you or not help you? What are some things the psychologists do that

we can't do on our own? The will power can be hard without the help of a person and

I know it can be very embarrassing for some to spill it out to them. I think I would just want a

woman as a psychologist just bc she would hopefully have a open perspective about what I am trying to get over and be able to point me in the right direction without the look
of disgust from someone else. Just me thinking. How do you go about talking about it to them. Do they ask questions which will make it easy to get it off your chest or do you have to just start talking about everything all at once and they will just observe and after your done they will tell you what to do???

I am going to see a therapist tomorrow as part of my first steps to hopefully changing myself. For me its not just porn, but that will be part of what I plan on discussing with her (just happens to be a woman, but majority seem to be female here). Also I will be attending a therapist as opposed to a psychologist, so not sure the differences between the two.

I think the main thing they could do is be able to listen to my thoughts, my feelings, why i did what i did etc. things that otherwise would stay bottled up inside of me.

I'm not really sure how it will go, but I do know that it will help to get it off my chest, even reading and writing here the past 2 days has helped, so I hope vocalising and discussing my issues will be of even greater help, and possibly easier than doing it with family or friends.

In regards them asking questions, I'd imagine anyone you visit will have some to start to try find out why you have come there? Also I doubt after one session they will be able to 'tell you what to do' in a do this and you will be cured kind of way, they might make suggestions but as in life nothing is guaranteed.

Sorry I couldn't give you better advice, but will let you know how my session goes if that helps.

  3. Guys i have been a ton of times. I can vouch for it. They will talk through your addiction and give you a different perspective on it. They will work with you to discover and address the underlying issues which might even explain why you are using porn etc in the first place.

You have to be 100% honest with them and willing to work with them as you move forward together.

Congrats on going it is a great idea.
