    Brothers and Sisters,

When I first started abstaining from PMO a few years ago, I would call the urges "the itch." I would feel the itch day and night and I would have to fight the temptation to "scratch."

I noticed a post someone made about how to fight these urges and decided to share my philosophy with you on not scratching.

WARNING: IN NO WAY AM I AN EXPERT ON ABSTINENCE OR CLAIM TO HAVE THE ANSWERS. MY THOUGHTS ARE MY OWN, HOWEVER I APOLOGIZE IF THESE IDEAS HAVE BEEN STATED BY PREVIOUS POSTERS ON NOFAP.
    How I fight temptation:
    1. Distraction: This one is tricky. It doesn't always work, but in those desperate times, distraction is the only thing that helps me. I made a playlist on my phone of music that I need to blast to get those thoughts out of my head. Look for HEALTHY distractions like exercise or eating a vegetable; be VERY careful not to sub out one unhealthy addiction with another! There was a guy on The Ellen Show who was 400 LBS and made himself walk to Walmart every time he got hungry. The man lost ALL his weight!!
    2. Cutting out temptation: You probably should've done this by now, but you need to purge yourself of the poison. Get rid of the apps, throw out the magazines, toss the toys, delete the browsing history (which you may already do;))... basically ANYTHING that you know will tempt you. I’ve already had to cut out most of the TV shows and movies (even Game of Thrones:eek:) that I watch because some scenes get me too hot and bothered.**For those who PMO at night: GO. TO. BED. EARLY! You know that when you get into bed with your laptop or phone, shit will go down. Cut your technology usage. Make a bed time for yourself and use your technology BEFORE your nighttime routine. Studies show that technology use within an hour of bedtime deeply affects sleep quality. This is why your tired and unmotivated.
    3. Motivation: Speaking of unmotivated, let's keep it simple: what makes you happy? For me, it's music. That's why I made myself a distraction playlist. I'm also motivated by reward. Join a Reboot challenge group (I may start my own). When you see the progress you are making with others beside you, it may help you beat this thing... forgive the pun.
    4. Verbalization: I mean, that's why we're here, right? If you don't have a friend or family member that you can share with this openly, then this is the perfect place to process your feelings. I'm here almost every single day; it is the first thing I go to when the ITCH kicks in.
Hope that helped. I too am working through these and still struggle with the itch. But we can do it, guys!

    SI SE PUEDE!
