A few months ago my younger brother told me about this site and how it helped improve both his and many others' lives. Upon further reflection of my life, I've come to realize how porn has been a part of it ever since puberty, around age 12 or so. That's half the time I have spent walking this earth.

I think the only time that I never looked at porn for a month as a whole was when I walked the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage the summer of 2015. I felt so incredible, for many reasons, upon returning, but quickly fell back into old habits. Now I'm in my first year out of undergrad and I feel inescapably lost at times, often turning to pornography as a knowing distraction from my more negative emotions and deflated sense of self, in turn only compounding my despair. I've never felt that I truly had a resolution to make on a New Years until now. Simultaneously, I know that I often jump into the deep end upon making a decision and end up not being able to maintain a healthy lifestyle change for a prolonged period of time. This time I'm going to take one step at a time.

Upon January 1st, 2017 I'm going to engage in a 7 day PMO challenge. I'll be keeping a personal, physical journal, plus posting after the 7 days to see if I will continue. 2016 has been difficult for all of us, I believe, and while a world of difference won't simply come to us just because we change our calendar, the rising of the sun will offer us new opportunities, just as it always does. The significance of our choices lays not in the arbitrary numbers denoted on a page, but on the courage within us to make them knowing full-well the struggle we may endure, and the benefits we may reap. I encourage anyone, especially those who don't know if this is for them or who don't believe they can no-PMO for a daunting 90 days: join me for a mere 7 days. Please post, encourage each other. Let's take the first step into our new lives.

Great post man. You've got this -- we're all with you in the struggle. I'm on Day 2 of my own PMO challenge, and I'm aiming for a whole year. Let's do it!

Also, doing the Camino in August-September 2017. Counting down the days.

Hell yeah man, it's going to be a good year, I can feel it. Also - so excited to hear about the Camino! It was one of the most difficult and eye opening experiences of my entire life. It's another world. I've never felt more in tune with myself. You will have an incredible time!

How awesome is that? How far did you walk? I have a couple of mates who have walked it (over 800 kms), although I think you only have to walk the last 100km or so to qualify. It really changed their lives. . . .

I hope NoFap continues the transformation you are experiencing. Welcome aboard, and don't hesitate to call out if you need help with anything. Cheers!!!
