I've been doing this for the past month or so. Its a variation on the classic cold shower where you take a normal shower and then switch it to cold really fast for the last couple minutes.

James Bond does it in all his movies.

I'm not a fan of cold showers. After shower isn't a time where I think about PMO or anything related so I don't see the point.
However I tried this today and holy crap it was horrendous! The worst thing ever and I couldn't stay in there for more than five seconds..... I'm going to go for ten tomorrow

honestly the shower will always suck, but its not about it eventually becoming normal, it about being able to say to yourself "I know it sucks but I'm going to do it anyways." the exorcise helps build the part of your brain that is able to say no to instant gratification. honestly just force yourself to stay under the cold water for five minutes, fight through the pain and the thoughts in your head that say you can't do it. you will be surprised how long you can stay under. plus its like going swimming in cold water, it eventually gets better as the shower goes on.

I tried out the cold shower for a full week once, and I have to say it really sucked but after I'd get out I'd think "Wow, I did that? I didn't think I could." I'd always feel like a champion after taking a full length shower under cold water. It's kind of like working out; it sucks at first but after you're done and you worked hard, you feel great and get stronger every time.
