This is a question to nofappers who have succeeded for a long time and who also were suffering from male pattern baldness.

There is a lot of talk within the hair loss community forms, that masturbation is the cause of hair loss and that stopping masturbation has helped them cure their baldness.

It would be great to know, if there are people within the nofap community that have put an end to PMO, to know if they have succeeded in regrowing hair.

Also, it would be interesting to know how many people among us who are still struggling, and have been fapping for a long time, what the condition of their hair is and if they suffer from hair loss.

    Thanks

  2. I really don't know about this one. I'm pretty sure maturbation and hair loss have no correlation whatsoever. Even if they did, it would be so small it would be insignificant.

I suffer from male pattern baldness too. It is better to start using Rogaine early on.

@Conor101, have you noticed any difference? Any updates from anyone?

  5. Been using rogaine along with nofap. I've only masturbated less than 8% this year. I'm still pretty sure there is no correlation unless proven otherwise. My hair is thinner but this is largely due to aging and rogaine.

  6. Going to bump this thread.

I have stopped using rogaine a long time ago. I probably stopped around February because it caused my scalp to itch and made everything worse. I have not tried other drugs or remedies since that time. I have not tried any drugs regarding my hairloss or anything else for the past year, meaning I have been completely clean of anything pharmaceutical or otherwise. That being said I am currently on a 100+ day no PMO hardmode streak and what I noticed was that hair loss is at a minimum. I experience little to know hairloss, my scalp doesn't itch anymore, and I have no more dandruff like before. My parents have stated that my bald spot has decreased and I don't have that much of a balding appearance.

That being said, I now believe that there is truly a correlation between hair loss and masturbation. After 100+ days, my hair has been growing thicker and my bald spot is being covered up. I no longer have any problems with dandruff nor am I losing any hair on my scalp as much as I used to. Hopefully within 6+ months of nofap, I can regrow a lot of the hair that I have lost in that process.

One of the things I regret is the ignorance I have believed in my addiction to PMO. I truly believe that there is a correlation between the two and that for those who are predisposed to hair loss, must refrain from masturbation completely. I should have taken pictures accounting my hairloss, but I can assure you that people around me do not notice my hair loss. My parents even told me that my bald spot is much less than it was before. My best advice for those who suffer from baldness is to delay the process as much as possible.

That means no more fast food.
That means cold showers for the scalp and when washing hair.
That means eating DHT blockers like pumpkin seeds, spinach, salmon, avoiding red meat, saw palmetto supplements, staying away from junk food in general.
That means exercising and having a balanced body.
That means stopping masturbation and watching pornography.

Even if you don't regrow hair back, all these steps still make you a better more healthy individual in the long run. At this point, I don't care much about anything other than myself and my body. I've come a long way from a guy who always worried about what others think of me.

To answer your question, based on my experience, yes when I changed my masturbation habits I noticed a stop in hair loss. That being said, results vary for everyone. Even if it doesn't, it's best to avoid masturbation anyway. Why waste a good thing.

  7. I was a compulsive PMO addict since my teens. Compared to my peers I have no signs of balding. I believe healthy eating, exercise, sleep and taking multivitamins over the years has helped me a lot. I don't drink much alcohol, don't drink coffee (dehydrates the body) and don't smoke. I eat junk food now more than I used to but try to keep eating healthy nutritious food at the same time. Last year I came across a couple youtube videos about new factors in baldness including follicular mites that feed on the sebum and starve the hair roots of nutrients until they die. Do a search for "dermodex mites". Kinda gross but after watching those videos I started to recognise them on other people. You might have seen a yellowish crust on the eyelids or facial hair in people who don't have good hygiene. Basically thats their poop. I believe there is something to this... like why does a bald spot begin like a circle in some people and expand... like a fungus lol? You can also find stories online of people who have had their hair revert to black after certain nutritional changes. Anyways.. hope this helps you and others. To God be the Glory.

I am sure that masturbation causes hair loss. My father still has hair. But I am experiencing hair loss. This is because I have been masturbating 6-8 times a week. Currently I am following nofap and I am 100% sure that I will regrow all of my hair.

Damn, this makes me pretty sad. Started balding around like 22 and always blamed it on bad genetics, but it could have been my own fault

Aight I think this post might be helpful. Rogaine seems ineffective for me.

Ok so I have thinning at my hairline. And its genetic as far as I can tell especially on my dad's side and old people on my mom's side that I will lose hair unless I intervene. I have a young face but my hair line gives away my age.

I also want to say with hair its really hard to know for sure what benefits what. Biotin and rogaine for instance had no effect on me imo.

Ok so here is what oddly improved my hair loss even though when I tried em at the time, hair regrowth was not the goal. The last one might shock you.

    1. Shaving your head with magic. Shaving my head continuously seemed to have made my hair once i stopped shaving grow back faster and thicker. Its kind of like when u shave ur face for a while and then ur facial hair starts to grow back faster. So basically if u shave and u dont damage the scalp and u actually if the hair food to grow (argan oils, coconut oils, whatever topical crap) it does improve a bit. But its a bit of a gamble but worth it.

    2. Zero Carb again a bit of a gamble, where you have to make sure you are getting the nutrients ur hair needs. https://perfecthairhealth.com/the-truth-about-low-carbohydrate-diets-and-hair-loss/
    https://www.ketogenicforums.com/t/thicker-hair-on-keto/5567/12
    https://www.reddit.com/r/zerocarb/comments/7jz1mk/has_anyones_hair_improved_over_time_diffuse/

Personally on keto just coincided with my hair thinning imo. But when I did full zero carb in recent months I saw improvements despite me already giving up on it.

    3. Raspberry Ketones. Though often considered overhyped and useless for weightloss or a miracle for some people. I am an experimenter/optimizer. Got curious about this , I actually tried it. Saw some difference and shocking to me there was some actual research on this.
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18321745
    https://www.hairfear.com/hair-loss-products/Raspberry-Ketone-Tested-Proven-as-Hair-Loss-Remedy.htm

Now this is something that worked initially, it did not seem to last but tbh I got lazy about it. I will try it again soon.

    4. The most hair growth Ive experienced in years. Has been during dry fasting. Now like keto when people fast u will get testimonies on both sides. Some claiming regrowth and other claiming hair loss. It truly depends on many factors and I won't pretend to understand everything I have read on it. But the jist of it I think is that when you dry fast , well first off when people do this and they begin eating again they eat well rather than junk. So i think the first correlation is that if you eat better obviously your skin, nails and hair will be healthier even if you fasted.

I'd also day there are different types of fasts. Don't look up fasting and hair and not understand dryfasting is a whole other level.

Apart from that so your are really changing your usual body chemistry and u will see cascading benefits from that. And dry fasting takes apart sick / weak cells. Leaving cleaner stronger cells which are able to thrive. Your skin as your biggest organ is largely affected by dry fasting to the point where it will even start to pull moisture from the air. Its possibe it kicks starts something deep in the cell. There is research on how fasting activates certain genes responsible for anti-aging. I forgot the official term for it but you can find it by googling a few things.

This is an exert from a famous russian doctor who studied dry fasting
"- If you had a chill, you often have a cold, you were cold feet, so that they could not get to sleep soon - after dry fasting you become hardier to cold. - There were gray hair and they fell, after starvation, they become thicker and younger in color. - It was poor vision, it is after SG - often improves."

This is from Dr.Filonov's book. You can find it for free on google or the bay

I can confirm the vision improvement. I wear glasses. When I dry fast , near the 22nd hour I have vision improvements without my glasses. There is a guy on youtube as well who reported great levels of healing by dry fasting after lazer eye surgery.

My personal logical thought on this is. When you dry fast you will kill off old cells faster. You hair and nails are basically made up or dead cells which is why after you die you still grow hair and dead cells. This is somewhat laymans.

"As the epithelial cells within the follicle and matrix multiply, the older cells are pushed out, upwards through your skin. They die and harden, thus turning into hair or nails. This process, called keratinisation, makes your hair and nails grow."

Anyway I hope this was helpful. I prefer hardcore evidence to be honest but with hair there are so many variables that you just shotgun a bunch of things at it and see what works. In my experience dry fasting while doing zero carb is where I saw the most gains. This post has reminded me to try the rasp ketones again.

Personally I'd rather just shave my head and get it over with. But that can become tedious as well and socially people seem to care way more than they should.

Masturbation does reall affects hair. I started masturbating fron the age of 14, now i'm almost 19 and my hair is thining. Whenever i stopped masturbating for a while, the qualitu of my hair inproves but i don't know what's wrong with me i can't just seem to stop. I relasped yesterday after a 6 day streak.

I met a guy on nofap who says he was able to regrow his hair by doing NoFap amd including lots of raw tomatoes and carrots in his diet.

Well, i feel really stupid. I found out last year around August that masturbation leads to hair loss. Back then my hair was only thinning on just a little area of my scalp. i stopped masturbating for a week and used coconut oil on that spot and my hair grew completely to the way it was before. I achieved this in a week. I should have stopped masturbating from that time, but i didn't now my hair loss has gotten a lot worst. It's not something coconut oil is just gonna cure in a week or even a month. Whenever i think back about it, i just get really angry at my self.

now all i do most time i have an internet connection is to come to nofap and just read about what others are passing through and give my opinion

Just yesterday, I noticed my hair line is full of new, shorter hairs, where I was balding before (as I can judge, this happened in the last month, so after about three month of rebooting, and 1 month after the last relapse) My hair has started to grow back. Wohoo!! My beard is also very full and growing fast.

Although i didn't really have a problem with receding hairline, I thought it was the usual turning-30 stuff. But now I guess it doesn't have to be like that

I hope I can do the same! Im turning 29 next week, Would be great if it could grow back

  17. My beard is very patchy and hairy. I'm hoping it will grow out more fuller with me stopping PMO. It's possible PMO is wasting free testosterone, or maybe hogging some of it.

Did you use anything on your hair. I mean like any essential oil or maybe a change of diet.
OR you just did nofap and you started to notice hair regrowth

I started losing hair at like 22. It's all in the back so I tried ignoring it for a while but it is slowly trying to go bald
