If the title isn't click bait I'm a little shocked, but that being said, ted ex is a mixed bag of things. Some are alright, some are worthless but interesting, and some are very surprising how anyone green lit the person to speak at the event.

I think it's good that she's given a platform because not only does she have a right to say this, it's useful to get to hear things like this that are so outrageously beyond the realm of what should be acceptable. I think the most dangerous thing about this and many other topics presented in a similar vein is that it attempts to normalize a behavior that is not normal while presenting it to be something that is not a choice and in doing so dodges responsibility on the part of the party in question.

 

At least no one has chimed in and asked what the age gap was. . . Yet.

 

Paedophilia can be a natural instinct for some people. So can murder, rape and theft. We have laws against them to protect people. The major argument for criminalising paedophilia is that children don't have the capacity to form consent. The main argument for criminalising murder is that people don't like dying.

Yes paedophilia is natural, but the law is still the best deterrent for behaviour. It deters the majority of paedophiles from acting on their impulses.

 

Everything is natural to *some* people, what you do about it is key.

It's not inconceivable to say that pedophilia is a natural feeling. Just like its not inconceivable to say homosexuality is (which people say) or heterosexuality for that manner. Now I may or may not believe in it, i don't have an opinion.

Natural in the sense that you're born w the feeling, not that it's a right or justifiable feeling (pedos, not homos). Some people have viewpoints that pedophiles should be executed bc there's no chance of rehabilitation since it is a natural feeling (I'm not one of these people). Im sure it's not like porn induced and can be reversed easily like we are doing (not pedophilia, just pornographic stuff). But pedophilia can be repressed and pedophiles are good at hiding it.

Regardless its morally wrong. Saying it's not natural in the sense of you are born with that feeling isn't to wild to say. Your brain can be hardwired that way (just like your brain can be hardwired to gay, although it's not comparable in ethics), although it's rare and disgusting.

So all and all the word natural gives off the wrong vibe. Like young billy says to his mom "mom, I was looking at Sarah in class today and I got a weird feeling. What's wrong w me?" "Nothing wrong w it honey, it's natural." So pedophilia is not natural in that sense. But it may very well be a feeling / sexual taste that one is born with, like a disease. But these pedos are not victims, there's no justifying that.

 

The rate of women pedophile is much higher than 1%, up to 40% at least.
The problem is in the culture of our society that does not denounce such abuses.
I myself know several women pedophiles and several men who were abused in childhood, but none of this is reported to the police.

Yes, pedophilia is a preference as well as fetishes, people are born like that and do not control them. It is not confusion, it is not a choice, it is like homosexuality, a mistake of biology, a genetic variation.

Some pedophiles are artificial, as we well know, pornography abuse can change our sexual preferences, but only temporarily. When we stop pornography we return to the default state.

It is true what was said in the video, pedophiles should be treated as normal people, there are many who have fetishes for murder, mutilation, bestiality, and all are illegal for obvious reasons. But they must be respected, and they should be able to express their desires, provided they do not commit any crime.

I can get behind helping them overcome their fucked up preferences and assimilating them into public and not outcast them, unless they act on their crime (aka expressing their desires) and raping/molesting/sodomizing children

 

Express the desires = talk about them

They should be respected just like anyone else. What did they do to detract from respect? It is the repetition of what happened to homosexuals, to judge the person by something intrinsic of them.

It's not the same as homosexuality. Gay people don't harm anybody except ignorant people who get offended, which isn't their fault. Pedophiles are breaking a crime. They are in a literal sense ruining lifes.

Imagine you're chilling at a bar talking about how bad some chick is, dudes being dudes. And then Mikey over here says "yeah man, that toddler over there walking w his mom is looking sexy as hell." If I was the father of that child I would nearly beat the guy to death.

That can't be accepted in public, what message does that send? And if you're going for saying "hey I'm a grown ass man and wants to have sex w a child, I need help" that won't work. He needs to talk to a therapist, that's what they are there for.

You quoted my line in your post. You forget IF they haven't committed a crime and raped a child & if they wanted to change. Big difference

I think you two are actually pretty much agreeing with each other and saying the same thing, just in different ways.

I agree that we need to treat people who struggle with pedophilia with more respect and compassion. Can you even imagine how horrifying it would be to find that you are sexually attracted to children, beyond your control? Many of these people are just as horrified by it as we are, and that's why many of them end up killing themselves. Obviously the ones who see nothing wrong with their desires should not be encouraged to continue in that line of thought. But if they desire to change, it is in EVERYONES best interest (especially the children) for us to embrace them with less judgment and they to help them. Shaming people and pushing them away will not change them. They need help to change, if they can even change at all. So the only thing shaming and judging does, in this situation, is forced pedophiles to lie about who they are and try to suppress their feelings and deal with it on their own, which will likely result in one day cracking under the pressure and ending up harming a child, because they can't possibly work through something that big and complicated on their own.

In short, it is in everyones best interest for us to be more compassionate toward pedophiles and try to get them help. Not to accept or dismiss their feelings as normal and appropriate, but to make them feel comfortable enough to be honest about how they feel and seek help. Shaming people only encourages them to lie and hide, which does more harm than good.

 

Pedofilia = attraction for children

Pedophilia is not a crime, child sexual abuse is. Pedophiles do not ruin lives, pedophiles do not cause harm just for being pedophiles, who they cause are criminals who abuse children. And as said in the video 70% of child abusers are not pedophiles, they are normal people like you.

Therapists are there to deal with psychological illnesses, which are malfunctions of the mind, but pedophilia as well as homosexuality, as well as psychopathy, are intrinsic conditions of the individual, immutable. Therapists can help to understand about their condition, give behavioral tips, but this is not enough if the environment around them does not change too, it will only be a relief once a week for 1 hour in front of someone who maybe do not judge him.

If you had watched the video you would know that the main factor that drives pedophiles to commit crimes is isolation. They need to talk about their condition with friends, not with everyone, but they need to have acceptance and understanding from those around them, hidding is the worst thing possible.

People need to talk to someone about their daily suffering, and in that case it would be just like us, Fapstronauts, it is difficult to refrain from sexual activities and resist the urges. Imagine going through this your whole life, and relapse would not mean PMO, but abusing a child and ruining lifes.

Why is NoFap a success? Because we are a community. The people out there glorify pornography and do not understand why we do it. But here we understand our suffering, here we can talk about it. And these pedophiles deserve the same chance to fight for their lives.

None is acceptable, all women have fathers. And no one would be happy to hear a man speaking sexual things about their daughters. You're just demonstrating that sexism is normal for you, that's moral selectivism.

Either way, this is not what "express" means, they must express their conditions, their struggles, and get support and understanding from people around them, not therapists.

People who simply feel disgust for pedophiles think only of pushing them away, that is, "they need to hide who they are," but they do not understand that this causes the pressure that can later cause a tragedy.
