Support Groups: SLAA, Celebrate Recovery, Smart Recovery

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by ChristopherB, Jan 30, 2018.

  1. In recovery from addiction, support groups are a great benefit to the individual in recovery. Addiction is about lack of connection and so recovery is about connecting with healthy persons, places, and things. Currently, I have attended 2 Celebrate Recovery meetings and 2 Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) meetings to assist me in my recovery from compulsive pornography use and masturbation. I have liked all of the meetings that I have attended. I will definitely be back to both meeting groups to further relate with others who are recovering from compulsive porn use and masturbation.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based 12 step fellowship for all and any compulsive habits and hang-ups that people need to recover from.
SLAA: 12 step fellowship program, based off of Alcoholics Anonymous, yet for people who are recovering from a dependency and/or addiction to sex, pornography use, and/or toxic relationships.
SmartRecovery: secular support group that claims to be empirically based.

Has anyone else experienced assistance and benefit from the connections that were made through a support group? Which one?

  2. I just did my first day of SA today and I feel it has helped opening out.

I am definitely going to go once a week.
