    Hey All!

    So i was just thinking today about porn addiction and how even though it's unhealthy and has negative side effects, is actually the sign of a normal functioning brain.

    Now what i mean by this is that it's natural for the brain to seek out sex with new and novel partners. Obviously in the case of porn, this behaviour has warped into seeking 'artificial sex' instead of the real thing.

    I think in developing effective strategies to stop porn, it's important to remember our brains were built in an environment of scarcity.

    Both sugar, fat, and sex were scarce resources back in primeval days, and not having enough of them could literally mean the extermination of your genes.

    While our brains are terrifically suited to a world of scarcity, they really aren't that well equipped for a world of such abundance.

    Businesses have created numerous products to fulfill our needs. This would be great in moderation, however our scarcity biased brains, dont really have a great 'restraint' mechanism.

    Our reptilian brain (lookup triune brain) struggles to see the difference between artificial and natural sources to meet these needs.

    Therefore:
    Chocolate = rare fruit.
    Mcdonalds = hard won, and defeated animal prey
    Netflix = personal accomplishment
    Porn = attractive and available mate from nearby tribe
    facebook = fireside community bonding

    That's why even on an intellectual level we realise these things ARENT the real thing, our more basic and powerful drives believe they ARE.

    Realising this, we can work on stategies to combat not only porn, but other addictive substances like sugar, tv and social media.

    Some of my strategies:
    sex = going out on weekends and flirting with REAL girls
    fruit = I keep bananas and berries in the fridge at all times, in case i have that sugar 'itch'
    fats = I keep ingredients in the fridge to quickly make healthy sandwiches
    Bonding = whenever i feel a bit lonely, i call and chat to a friend
    Accomplishment = reading books or working on my business.

    These are just my strategies that work for me, let me know below what some of your strategies are :)

  2. I find excercising with a friend (for me its the gym) great for bonding and accomplishment.

    An definently reading and art.

    Not to worried with food but staying away from sodas and any form of fried food.
    So eating pretty clean and drinking water a plenty.

    You did so well on knowing what's behind it, also be aware of your thoughts (this is tricky for everyone here, who always failed into fake thoughts turned into porn triggers). Never let your thoughts (dirty ones or fake good ones) control you. but kill or ingore them, and never test yourself. (never never never test your ability and tolerance). We are fighting together for life long, addictions are not easy enemies. Human fights with lust and addctions since they were created. oh, My friend, You must be really careful about your present life. Sorry for not able to include everything here, but life is not easy!

  4. Great post. We live in a day and age where people think that we all have 100% free will. The actual fact is that probably the vast majority of people rarely if ever exercise even the most basic level of free will. They simply follow along like a marching soldier listening to the commands barked at them by their subconscious drives. Due to how easily these drives are confused, they're pushing the majority of people in unhealthier and unhealthier directions: Junk food, drug addiction, porn addiction, playing those mindless Facebook games that just give you constant dopamine spikes every time you "level up" or "get more points".

    I think when you start learning to go against your drives, and not do or consume things just because they feel good, you start to get a new perspective on what it really means to have free will. You start to realise how little control you may have been exerting over your life and circumstances in the past because you would always let your drives dictate your actions. At that point, that's when you can really start to take control of your life again.

    Your subconscious is like a general, and your thoughts that crop up, are like the soldiers ranking beneath that general. They just believe whatever the subconscious tells them. Now when you hear those thoughts, or urges, or drives, you have a choice: Either fall in line, become another grunt, a slave to your own mind's impulses, or wisen up and go your own way. It also gives you a hint on another way that you can deal with these urges and thoughts - and that is to target the person they take orders from: Your subconscious mind.

    In order to beat an addiction or bad habit, you cannot just exterminate it at a surface level, you have to change your entire belief system and core values internally. Speaking as someone who used to be addicted to drugs. If you want to quit drugs for example, it is not sufficient simply to hold off doing drugs, and forever remain in recovery. This is how relapses happen. Instead you must internally evolve to a point where you simply have distaste for them, where you have no desire for them. Then staying clean is as easy for the new you as staying high was for the old you. Anything that's part of your core values and belief systems, affects your urges and drives. You must recreate yourself as a new person in which those negative drives play no role.

    The greater achievement in life so far to me is persuasion... everytime someone comes to my side is a victory, and it's so simply.
    Already convinced someone that he's positive, hate's porn, loves everyone and is the most determinated person in the world... with self-affirmation.

    Reading is the best hobbie.

    very true man about the thoughts, but i think its more useful to focus on the emotions behind the thoughts, as they are what drive your behaviour. The thought 'i should look at porn' is probably stemming from an emotion such as loneliness or frustration

    Definitely agree with you man, we cant rely on our own raw will power (or free will) to resist, will power is a small and finite resource that gets replenished slowly. far better to tackle the underlying problems with that little bit of willpower that we do have, to make the rest of the time easier

    This is how you control your thoughts, they are not from your heart, they are from your nerve!!!
    Watch this video (this is why you should never touch any sexual stuff)and you should know once you touch porn or any sexual stuff/their substitutes. It would definilty affect you:

    Yesterday, I watched a video about working hard in gymnastics (nothing porn but still, they are girls). I didn't have wet dream for 2 month. But I had last night. So even little bit something like it would affect you. Same as your thoughts, once you let your thoughts pass free, lol, my 2 month work (60 days) are gone. Never take this addictions easy. I am super serious, and make notes everyday about other's experience and my experience.
