Sticky Thread about Masturbation VS. Masturbation with Porn?

Discussion in 'Abstinence, Retention, and Sexual Transmutation' started by RingoRules, Jun 8, 2018.

Hello all, I've been here a few weeks now and I'm wondering if there is a sticky thread regarding the differences between masturbation with and without porn. I've found many threads about masturbation and have tried to piece together a better understanding of NoFap.

From what I understand thus far, it seems that NoFap is both stopping PMO and MO. My main purpose here is to stop my porn use, but I've never considered stopping masturbation completely.

I've seen many threads about masturbation, and many of them are quite long with replies. Is there a thread that elucidates the differences/advantages of stopping masturbation completely with or without porn?

  2. Every one is here for different reasons. Look at the day counters, there are many people who "only" want to stop using porn. This might be your reason, mine is different. The meeting point that we all share is the strong desire for masturbating, which seems to be the key to our issues.
Don´t bother about the discussions of others, they can be helpful for you, but you have to find your own way.

  3. It's all a personal choice. If you want to stop porn but continue masturbating go ahead, if you want to quit masturbating in general it's fine too. Do what you is right for you. Don't let other people's reboot transform yours.

  4. As far as I now (unless they recently changed that policy without updating anyone, which I don't think they have) NoFap is not about stopping MO completely. NoFap.com is porn recovery website and not anti-masturbation website. It still says this on their about page:
    It also says this:
    And this:
Now, lemme just say I find it very funny that, given that "fap" means to masturbate, website who is literary named NoMasturbation.com says that it is not anti-masturbation. But at the same time I get why they wanna brand themselves that way. And I also get why would they wanna brand themselves as not a movement, not a principle, not a verb, etc. But in actuality it is not true either. Nofap is kind of like the movement-ish / princimple-ish kind of thing and it is most certainly a verb. Maybe not the brand "NoFap" but the word nofap is. It is a matter of fact no matter whether they agree with it or not. Because people, culture and community has made the word to mean these things and it's out of their control at this point.

For this reason it attracts all kinds of anti-masturbation people. Either because of religious reasons. Or because it is destructive addiction for them the same way as porn is for others. Or simply because they want the benefits of semen retention and sexual transmutation.
I don't know, probably there is. But to put it in a nutshell abstaining during reboot also from masturbation (and sometimes sex or at the very least orgasm) will help you reboot faster. As far as stopping masturbation permanently, well, there might be some spiritual benefits. I seriously doubt there are physical ones, assuming you were not masturbating excessively to begin with. Some people are into Chi energy conservation and want to rise their kundalini through their chakras and what not. Some believe it will make them closer to god. Some like myself do it also because of hormonal benefits. I just feel more energy, better focus, better memory, less procrastination, more self confidence and some other positive things when I practice semen retention. It's about hormonal management basically.

    My 5 cent is:
I suffered from "death grip" and that is why I will keep avoiding manual masturbation.

And the hornyness will drive me to meet new people and women. It changed my life in a good way and I am careful not to be a slave of my hornyness too.
