This song is from the same album, great description of porn being a "boot on your head"
These two pretty much summarize my constant struggle with addiction/grief. Music is so powerful and I’m thankful for it.
I made a playlist of all these songs and want to thank you all for sharing your songs of struggle and redemption!
Billie Eilish is awesome... Not just an artist but a prophet for our time.
Julien Baker. She was a drug addict and she wrote most of her songs for her Turn Off the Lights album while in rehab. In some of her songs she can be rather pessimistic and I can relate to that because sometimes I feel pessimistic.
Some lyrics from Appointments:
I think if I ruin this
That I know I can live with it
Nothing turns out like I pictured it
Maybe the emptiness is just a lesson in canvases
I think if I fail again
That I know you're still listening
Maybe it's all gonna turn out all right
And I know that it's not, but I have to believe that it is
This is one of my new favorite lyrics. I'm gonna have to spend some time listening to her. The music is chill and if "Appointments" gives any indication of her skill as a lyricist, I'm going to get a lot out of her music.
This song perfectly captures state of hopelessness I am sometimes going through, especially when I fail myself again and fall back to P.
Cage The Elephant - Ready To Let Go
This song is getting a lot of airplay here where I'm from. I find the meaning behind the lyrics as a couple, they're going through hard times possibly with his addiction that came out and he's ready to let it go.
Lol I don't think so... The closest that I can think about this topic is "Pictures Of Lily" by The Who and "The Girls Of Porn" by Mr. Bungle. But I never found anything related to the battle against it...
