Social Anxiety's Ugly Head...

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Questosterone, Sep 11, 2014.

  1. That's an inspiring story. Since I started nofap, I find myself more able to approach people, especially women. I like what you said about the different steps, slowly but surely exposing yourself to social situations.

Thanks, you have given me something to think about.
    Cheers.

Your dealt with social anxiety is interesting. Before, I was cramped inside my house for a freaking year after dropping out of high school and developing severe depression. Talking to people was a problem; I also hated high school and all the girlfriend/boyfriend crap. During my stay in the house, I had severe anxiety too. I thought it would never end; I watched porn all the time feeling miserable, lonely, and depressed. I couldn't walk 30 feet outside my house! Then something happened, I came outside again, but I was terrified. But I reconnected with friends, took medication for my anxiety, and very very slowly worked my way up the ladder. I suck with talking to people; I'm just too quiet. But you have to challenge yourself man. It took me years to "slowly" come out of my shell. I'm better off now though. Porn addiction is my toughest challenge by far, so there's something we have in common. All I'm saying is, bad things don't last forever. I'd never thought that having the courage to walk outside my house even though my anxiety was so freaking bad that I would one day get my GED and go to college and be better off. Who knows where you'll be in a few years, but you just got to hang in here. Things can be much worse and life is too short for all this. I hope this gave you some encouragement. Best of luck.

I also have bad anxiety when talking to people. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in a kitchen full of a diverse set of people. I've made a few friends and I even talk to a few girls on occasion. I'm still pretty quite but I'm definitely coming out of my shell as you put it. It's been healthy for me.

The other day I had a conversation with a stranger smoking a cigarette on a bench. It was a little awkward but I got through it. I also approached a very attractive new girl who was sitting on the same bench and had a small conversation. Little steps I guess.

Congrats on joining NoFap and good luck on your journey.

    God bless!
