Slow reducing?

    Hello everyone. My first post here.
    36yo, porn and sex addicted since 19yo. Last couple of years, masturbation almost every day and hookers like 2-3 times a week.
    I was thinking, like quitting cigarettes, could I do it slowly? Like one hooker/week and NoFap anymore for some time? I really don't think I can stop all at once.
    And yes... I know that this life has brought me great losses. I wanna change.
     
  2. Perhaps, but be honest with yourself as time progresses. Also, slot in new behaviours to take the place of your damaging behaviours. So, learn to sometimes choose to do some exercise (for example) instead or pornography or escorts. Good luck! You've made a start.
     
  3. I think it's the best way to do it.
    Set a final goal and set small goals in between.
    So you can experience some success very soon, which in turn gives you more motivation for the further process.
     
  4. I was just thinking about that today. It really depends on your will power. It's so easy to stretch small goals "just once". I also would not compare it to stop smoking. I remember when I quit I had a span of about 2 weeks during which at times I wanted to have a smoke so desperately that I almost went crazy. However, to get cigarettes I would have needed to get up and out of the house. That stopped me every single time. But when you try to stop masturbating you do not have that barrier. You can put your hand in pants at any time and the temptation is so much bigger.
