Yes, you've got it dude. Antisexualism is opposition or hostility towards sexual behaviour and sexuality.

I suppose it would be possible to be addicted to the dopamine from PMO and then be asexual...MAYBE.

But the dopamine rush comes from viewing erotic material... Which contradicts antisexualism?

But you would have to be masturbating and feeling the exquisite orgasm to trigger the reward circuit. Surely, you would never do that if you were asexual.

  5. Oh I'm definitely sure I'm not asexual. Lol. I like naked people way too much.

What's also interesting is that you masturbate without porn if I believe your counter. So it's just a release for you? Just about the pleasure? Sorry if it sounds a bit direct, you're not forced to answer obviously. But that's very interesting because you're really into celibacy, and I'm trying to link it with the article.

After thinking I think that the key point here is the addiction concept, really. Perhaps are you really asexual, but your brain has been modified by the addiction patterns, which causes you to still react to the addiction (all of this knowing that you've been abstaining from 6 months, and 6 months is what's known to be the no-return point for habit breaking), without "believing" in the subject of your addiction?...

Haaaa I sound way too much like I'm trying to experiment on a subject, sorry!!!

About becoming asexual, definitely interesting, I don't think that's possible either if it truly is something that you're born as, but what if society, and also PMO itself, plays a role in it? I never KNEW that I was romantically interested in girls before watching porn, but I hate lesbian porn for instance. I KNOW I'll never make love to a girl, but it's for religious beliefs. It's a tricky situation haha.

Antisexualism isn't innate. It was introduced by the Gnostics, so it can be a religious position or it can be a learned behaviour based on negative experiences relating to sex - sexual abuse, perhaps.

  7. And what if he REMEMBERS, consciously or not, the orgasm feeling? If he HAS been addicted, and was neither asexual nor antisexual at this time, he still can remember the orgasm feeling. It's been 260 days and I still remember how it feels like to orgasm. Can you really "unremember" such feeling? It's the most powerful pleasure sensation on Earth right? Could a simple remembrance be enough to polish the circuit? I don't really know what I'm trying to prove right here? But it's so interesting?

I definitely DO NOT masturbate... my counter says O, so that includes sex or masturbation. I think if you masturbate or watch porn in any capacity you are not asexual. Antisexual is more of an attitude then an orientation. Antisexual people still have sexual feelings it seems, but they just choose to fight them.

  9. That's the explanation I was looking for! Thank you for the clarification, this subject fascinates me!

So, if I recapitulate, both asexuals and anti-sexuals CAN for X or Y reason have sex or masturbate, except that the difference is that the first is an innate orientation, and the second an attitude deriving from something that happened?

I think if you have sex or masturbate, you would cease to be be antisexual or asexual. I guess if you FORCED yourself to have sex or masturbate as an asexual you still would be one, but if you enjoy, you aren't.

Still, if one was anti-sexualist, then viewing such material would not be arousing ?

No. That would describe a asexual person. Antisexuals are just against sex, but still naturally have sexual feelings, unwillingly.

So, just fighting natural, sexual urges?

From what I understand that is what antisexuals stand for. They fight the urges and pretty much say sex is bad. They are against sex.

What I'd like to challenge here, at it's foundation, is the idea that sex and relationships are a "need". In other words essential for human life and happiness. Maybe by resisting the extremely acute DESIRE that is sex and relationships we can transcend to something more then the average human. By avoiding the typical human course perhaps we can do incredible things. The law of equal exchange. By sacrificing this part of our life something HAS to take it's place. Just imagine for a moment what the world would be like without sex or romantic relationships. I'd venture to say the world would be in much better condition. People would be more productive. We'd be more advanced.

Very interesting idea. I don't doubt it would be more productive, but possibly also more cold and less pleasant. I had a very interesting conversation with a friend from a highly competitive high school in China and he said romantic relationships were basically taboo at his school. He was super smart, which he attributed to his high school experience but he definitely disliked it in retrospect. Food for thought.

Sexuality can mean a bunch of things, it doesn't necessary mean your sexual orientation, like for example discovering your sexuality can just mean someone who is shy and has never really explored sexual relationships, for example a straight guy or girl.

It also depends on the context.

Yeah Abel I should specify romantic relationships. I would say having good friends is a need.

Createsmyownluck. I could maybe see how it would be more cold. I don't see why friendships could not still be cultivated still. For me, having a bunch of couples around doesn't really make anything too warm. Having a group of people that truly love each other platonically, that I think is the epitome of warmth.

I can't speak for everyone on this, but I personally get the connotation from society that marriages and relationships automatically involve sexual activity.

Sure, some couples enjoy sex, but there are lots who don't.

I still maintain that everyone has a sexuality, even if you define it as "asexual" or "antisexual", it is an identification with a viewpoint on sex. Masturbation is sexual behavior, I don't think that sexuality needs to involve more than one person. I know a few people who identify as gay, but they don't have sex with other people. I don't know if they masturbate, so I can't say that they are celibate. Even celibate persons have a sexuality. I find this subject extremely interesting. I think that the same person can experience many different structures of their sexuality in one lifetime. I defined my sexuality very concretely in my first post on this thread. I only did that because I'm exposed to a lot of people who study this issue. So through their interpretation, whether I like it or not, I have a sexuality that can be defined, so I may as well be the one who defines it, and not leave it up to someone else.
Id be interested in knowing MW's motivation for starting this thread. The way MW defines his sexuality here is one that I'm not familiar with. I'd like to know more.
