How would you define "sexuality"? I'm not sure I understand what people mean by saying things like "discovering your sexuality". I struggle with the idea that humans need some sort of sexual activity to be happy. It's something I think about a lot...the inherent sexual feelings we all have, and really whether or not giving these up would be inhuman.

Also as a complete side point, the Rebooting section is a mad house. It's extremely flooded with new threads...most of them of the same things.

Like discovering what you naturally like I guess you could say. Porn tends to fuck up your sexuality, either turning it more extreme or changing it completely. That's why not jerking off to porn or at all is often a great way to figure out what you like without porn clouding your judgement or arousal. You can give up all sexual desires, but often they'll just find a way to come back to you. It's up to you if you want to act on them through masturbation, or be the better man and tell yourself "No".

I think some people use the word sexuality loosely or as an abbreviation to mean their sexual orientation. But it really means the capacity to have erotic experiences and responses.

On the side point, it does seem somewhat turbulent at the moment. Just be selective in what threads are worth your while engaging with. :)

Some people mean by it also a fundamental expression of womanhood and manhood, regardless whether you are married or live in celibacy. In this sense John Paul II's Theology of the Body is a theology of sexuality. Originally the Theology of the Body was a series of short Wednesday audiences, now it is also re-worked systematically by authors such as Christopher West: http://www.christopherwest.com/

Everyone has a "sexuality". Some researchers say even newborns and extremely elderly humans do. It is philosophically impossible for an individual to not possess a sexuality, by definition. To practice no sexual behavior is a form of sexuality known as "asexuality". To practice celibacy is a form of sexuality. To me it involves, but it not defined by, ones physical gender, gender behavior, sexual preference and ideation of anything that evokes a response of sexual interest. It also includes behavior of a "sexual nature" toward one self and/or others. I define "sexual nature" as an aspect involving any anatomy or thought that is subject to sexual response.
My sexuality as I define it is- a monogamously coupled, gay, anatomical and behaviorally identified male, who engages in self regulated auto erotic fantasy and stimulation, attempts mutually satisfying coupled sex, and who's sexual history includes a multitude of other behaviors which are no longer practiced for various reasons.
It is unsettling to me how many cultures and religions have vilified sexuality. Using such an inescapable aspect of being a human being to instill guilt, shame and control in the form of subjugation. Its unconscionable, and inhumane.

I see. So really, it is an extremely broad topic, with no real definition. But it really seems at it's base to be a person's attitude toward sex.

So really, my attitude toward sex is just contempt and hatred. Isn't that my sexuality then? At this point I'm so completely sick of sex. Do any of you ever feel that way? I honestly think human life would be so much better if we just reproduced like sponges or something...

To Adjoint. Thanks, but I don't think that book really fits my lifestyle...

No, the word sexuality does not mean a person's attitude to sex. It is the capacity to have erotic experiences and responses. Obviously, you have damaged your God-given sexual capacity. In fact, it seems there is some bitterness towards it, too. But what is damaged can be healed my friend.

If that's what it means, then I'm anti-sexual/asexual.

Bitterness? That's the understatement of the century. All I got left is rage.

I think sexuality is in a way what your attracted to. If you feel no desire to be around girls or talk to them then you would be asexual(or guys if your gay). I think a part of it is both intimacy and passion are what make up your sexuality. Its fine if thats what you want to do I say congratz that you've chose to do it instead of being thrust upon you.

Just curious are you an Olympic weightlifter or a powerlifter? I do both but have only competed in powerlifting and am considering olympic.

Olympic Weightlifting! I do powerlifting movements sometimes but I've only competed in Olympic Weightlifting. I'm actually deloading right now for a meet at MDUSA in NC.

You should definitely try it. I'd like to do a PL meet sometime too. That and a strongman event for fun.

Can I ask your PRs and BW?

Sure I'm 172-175 I bench 300 I squat 400 and dead lift 500 my power clean is 315. I should try snatches but that kevin ogar story just put me off but I think next week I will try.

Dude I know strong man that would be so sick. Good luck at your meet dude. So what are your PRS and BW?

Duuuude. You're friggen strong! 315 PC at your weight is awesome. You should seriously consider Weightlifting, I think you'd be good at it. It takes more more mobility/technique but I think it's way more fun then PL. Just don't snatch in front of a pile of plates...

I'm sitting at a 250 bench, 440 squat, 500 deadlift, 275 Clean and Jerk and 212 Snatch at 225-230 BW.

Whoa thats impressive dude the snatch. You would do great at powerlifting. And I do enjoy PC a lot like almost more than dead lifting. I just have to learn to snatch first. And the jerk thats crazy dude I can't jerk that weight. Your very well rounded thats impressive.

Yeah snatching will probably take a few years just to get decent at but I think your right its worth trying. Man snatching in front of a pile of plates ouch yeah that would be sketchy alright I'll try to avoid it

Yeah referencing the Kevin ogar incident. He snatched in front of rubber plates, missed behind, bounced and the bar hit his spine. So yeah. Clear the platform. That was such a freak incident.

The full cleans, snatches and jerks are really technical. But I've got a decent handle on them in about a year. How long have you been lifting?

Sorry to go off at a tangent (back to the thread, lol). I don't think you quite fit with the definition of asexual, but certainly you come across as anti-sexual. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisexualism

  17. I'm having a question with asexuality - pardon my ignorance, I might say false things here: if Melancholy was really asexual, then PMO wouldn't have any interest for him, right? I know you're at 6 months bro, warmest congratulations by the way you're doing freaking amazing, but my point is, if he really was asexual he never could have been interested in it in the first place? Or can you BECOME asexual?

I'm asking because I'm having trouble finding my own sexuality. I think I'm half bisexual half pansexual. But I'm not sure, but it's another subject and it's MWL's thread.

  19. Hmmmm I think that this part is the most interesting. Hehe I shouldn't have read the rest, I'm even more lost now.

What I've understood from this very short extract is that MWL could have been asexual since the beginning, even if he was masturbating? What do you think about this Melancholy?

Also, can an asexual be a PMO addict? The concept of addiction seems capital here.

And I've still haven't quite understood if asexuality is something that you are at birth or if you can become it.

That's an interesting point Anne Dauphine. I suppose I am really not asexual, and I don't believe you are either. From what I understand asexual people are completely uninterested in sex, which is obviously not the case for us. As far as becoming asexual...I don't think that is possible 100%. I think we can definitely move that way through personal development and abstinence. I honestly wish I was asexual.

I suppose I definitely am antisexual then.
