Hey boys and girls! I want to appeal to any biology or anatomy geeks out there, by asking the question that brought me to my journey here at NoFap.

It's no secret that many men suffer from various levels of ED, and more than a few of us came to nofap attempting to regain the sensitivity they lost during iron grip, monkey spanking sessions.

My question, is what information can anyone provide on the science behind the growth and regeneration of the cells and nerves in the male shaft? (no creditials or source citing necessary but is welcomed.)

For example, any specifics on how the process of recovery happens on a cellular level, medically correct terms for parts of the member, stages of the process, how long it takes for the cells and nerves to be completely replaced so you essentially have a whole new joystick and any additional information on the topic.

Any and all feedback is appreciated, thanks party people

  4. I know a decent bit about biology but I can't give you specific answers. I do know that with plenty of time and leaving your junk alone that the nerves will regain sensitivity. I don't have that issue but I'm certain you'll be able recover. The two biggest things is quitting what you're doing to cause the problem, then the most important thing is time.

    Sorry I couldn't offer more.

  6. Until we can get more specific answers my very simple yet obvious suggestion is to avoid PMO. PMO is the enemy of all progress and keeps us tied down with our problems, regardless of what those problems are. I'll say this though, for the most part many of us share the same problems with some variations. I suffer from anxiety, depression, lack of drive, PIED etc etc and I know it's all tied to my damn addiction.

I'm going to beat it though, if it's the last thing I do.

I'm sure many guys on here (like me) are more concerned about the regeneration of receptors and synapses in the arousal circuit in the brain, rather than nerves in the penis...

You can do it! Now that you've identified the problem, you can attack it full force. I believe in you!
Although, you can only beat it by not beating it.

  9. PMO: The only addiction you beat by not beating it.

Also, thank you for your encouragement.

  11. Hi dude. You are asking for something that is very technical. I did a google search which revealed a lot of scientific data, but it was above my level of understanding. Here is the link if you want to have a try...

I can only imagine the healing process is simliar. The longer you go without putting anything negative in front of you, the easier it is for your mind to recover. Although, now you mention it, I would be interested in learning the science behind rebooting the human brain too.
I think the biggest part is consistency to your modified behavior.

I'm not an expert, but have some experience.
There are two areas with nerve issues, the penis and the brain.
There are plenty of threads on rebooting and healing the brain.
With age and mistreatment, there is a loss of sensitivity in the penis. Many claim that a foreskin helps shield the tip of the penis, leading to greater sensitivity. This can mean more possibility of PE in a young kid, and more enjoyment for older men. Excessive M damages the penis, leaving scars or calluses with less sensitivity than the original skin. The combination of tough skin and damaged nerve endings results in a lack of sensitivity. The time of healing would depend on age and seriousness of damage done, and other medical issues like diabetes. Healing might be helped with facial skin products (Mary Kay might have a new speciality market.), but most important would be a complete cessation of all mistreatment. Putting a cast on a penis would not be practical, but avoiding abrasions from rough hands and coarse fibers will help speed up its healing.

Here's a tidbit that has interested me. I'll hopefully post the actual source shortly.
From what i'm beginning to understand:

    - The mineral Zinc plays a role in tissue regeneration.
This is why Zinc Oxide Cream (white, pasty diaper rash cream. Penaten, Sudocrem, etc)
is affective. it's provided a BIT of relief for my personal penile issues...some people have had better results than myself with the cream).
-A few really knowledgeable (sounding) fellas on this and on r/NoFap have cited sources that the Zinc is depleted by constant fapping. This is something I'm gonna look into extensively, because I've had/have a magnesium deficiency, and I know the havoc that Mineral Deficiency can cause. I really think guys with ED, or sensitivity, or even small wounds on the penis may have depleted their Zinc. Every mineral I can think of off the top of my head
(Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, Probably Zinc) plays a role in nerve signalling.
-Some guys have sworn by supplementing with Zinc. I'm gonna add the Zinc supps I bought to my diet in the next day or two and report results.
    - Alot of you guys are experiencing penile numbness, etc. I however have sort of an OVER sensitive glans. Any other guys have a burning, sensitive glans?
From my understanding of nerve-damage (which I think is pretty decent) Nerve damaged areas can experience numbness/atrophy. Nerve damage can also cause extreme pain and sensitivity (perhaps a sign of healing?) Nerve damage can also cause 'pins and needles' (though i've yet to come across someone with 'pins and needles' in their penis...
Point is, whether you are experiencing oversensitivity, or lack of sensitivity, I am VERRRRY suspicious (personal opinion;very little research) that this is actually the same problem being expressed differently in different people.

Hopefully this info is useful to someone! Hopefully my NoFap journey results in my own wounds healing! If I get results, i'll share them with the world! Good luck guys!

I've found it very enlightening to break out of my selfish bubble see the other struggles other fellas are going through in this :). And of course support them, because we're a community, and I myself may need support from people who don't share my exact problem.

Every guy who has gone so far as to cause their penis some damage, are VERY likely veterans of porn addiction. It was Seventeen Years of porn addiction that caused my physical problems. The TINIEST bit of common sense and compassion SHOULD lead one to believe that a guy who's gone that far has obviously gone through the same Dopamine depletion and spiritual distress as anyone else in the community. And need some support. :)

God bless, good luck and thanks for your contribution!

    Good advice!

  17. I remember reading a pre-internet article (yes, we found info w/o Google in the Dark Ages) that describes the penis as basically a stretchy connective tissue organ w/lots of blood vessels. As such it’s very resilient and flexible since it literally goes from
Limp to Hard in a matter of seconds. The connective tissue can be damaged by physical injury and extreme masturbation but it seems to take a lot to damage it. Even John Bobbit’s penis regained most of its functionality if not all its sensitivity. A testament to the penis’s resilience

Thanks for your reply man! It's greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I figure (and hope) that the great resilience of the penile tissue means that, in my case, or other guys with tissue damage, there's hope of healing. But depending on the severity of the injury, it could be a lengthy process.

Hope that healing will happen, even in a long time window is better than nothing.
Some personal experience with nerve damage: When I was 19 I had my wisdom teeth removed. Apparently, a thick nerve was wrapped around one of the teeth, and through my tongue. I often forget this experience, but my tongue had this god-awful pins and needles feeling if I moved it at all...It took about 8 months to heal. So patience is key

    Thanks again friend:)_

I’m female but my ex had PIED, specifically DE and severe death grip so we did a ton of research on it. When you have both it’s often difficult to figure out what the main issue is or of its both. My experience is that if you stop porn and all masturbation you will see a change in your sensitivity for sure, but will a man with severe death grip from years of MO be able to regenerate skin and nerves to the point of having a normal sex life meaning O from PIV sex that depends. One of the biggest factors is age. A man over the age of 40 is going to have a loss of sensation that is purely age related. So if you are over 40 have had limited sexual contact other than your hand, death grip and are a P addict you have a tough road ahead of you. You must agree to never MO again and that’s not easy. The problem is that you build up a callous on your skin and any nerves you have are then covered in this thick skin so it’s like having sex wearing a kitchen glove, the thick ones. Have you ever seen a person who plays guitars fingers? Ask and you will see what I mean the tips are covered in callouses. Except with the penis you can’t always see or feel them. What happens is that overtime if you are too rough you are actually creating little tears in the skin which overtime turns into a callous. So I guess it depends on how severe the damage is you have done.

Would a man with a skin like that over 40 with loss of sensation from PIED be able to recover? Makes me nervous, and I'm only 31...
