Porn isn't sex anymore, it's violence.

'Rough' sex years ago was a little tug of the hair, a cheeky light slap and some mutual wrestling. Now 'rough' sex is rape. I'm disgusted that this is now the new direction and vision for pornographic filmmakers.

I'm not going to judge you if you do choose to watch violent porn because we're more alike than we are different - we're both on here and we're both addicted to porn. In fact, I highly doubt you started on violent porn. Like most drugs, you started small. Then as your curiosity expanded and your tolerance increased, you searched for something stronger. A new, different high with more intense sensations. One tug led to another and here you are. You're open to all sorts of streams.

However, whether you intend to seek 'rough' sex or not, you can't help but come across it. It's almost everywhere now. Every page has at least one thumbnail or title that catches your eye. And like a lot of random (non-sexual) videos you may receive on WhatsApp- even if you are repulsed, they’ve hooked you in and you still want to see what happens next. We're desensitised and addicted to aversion nowadays.

Perhaps this kind of porn has been around longer than I realise, but the difference is, you probably had to look harder for it before. Now it's as prominent as headline news. For example, these days a website or production company will wear the title 'abused' in its name proudly. Can you blame them? Their views are racking up millions.

Is an abuser going to click on regular porn or is he going to opt for 'abusive' thumbnails? The latter. I'm not an abuser and neither are you, right? This is the kind of porn that makes me thankful for my determination to quit. Get out now people before it's too late.

  2. A lot of the wording and narratives on porn sites are extremely damaging, they can conjour up many different ideas about the same photo or video. If a site says it's a 'step father and daughter' scene when you know in reality it's just two people who have been paid by a production company, part of you goes along with the narratives even if the narrative isn't necessarily what got you interested in the first place. A lot of the language on porn sites normalises abuse, violence, power, control and submission. Romance and eroticism is long gone these days. Each time you view a new video/image with associated themes and narratives you are training your mind to associate these things with the women you meet in the real world. It's especially damaging for children who view this content who have no guidance or inner compass to navigate their way through this minefield. I was a child once who started to view porn waaaay before I was mature enough to understand it properly and that only severely messed me up later in life.

I used to compare porn to kung-fu movies - some of us weren't interested in the storylines, we just wanted to fast forward to the 'good stuff'. But it's true, even if we don't watch the whole scene, the titling is so warped that it can have subtle impacts on your perspective. Kids have pornography in their pockets now with smart phones and sadly a lot of parents aren't tech savvy enough to add restrictions on their devices.

It's most disturbing when it doesn't surprise your eye anymore

  6. Very important topic!
I used to say to myself: when relapse occurs at least don't go to the extreme porn. There's enough "normal" porn out there to fap to.
I tried to reinstall boundaries but with little success.

Yes, the industry manipulates users into stuff. It's dirty but it's their business. However I'm the one who decides to use porn and what kind of porn. And there's no lack of variety!

In the end we harm ourselves and others.
    Fuck that shit!

  7. The porn industry is disgusting and the best reason to quit:
Never EVER support an industry that exploits and promotes addictive behaviour, that promotes violence against women, that disrespects women and childrens rights, that is closely linked to all kinds of different crimes, that even disrespects its users, .... make a personal decision to stop supporting such industry NOW and for good

When I first discovered porn in 1991, it was pretty girls and scenes that were maybe 8 minutes long. Hell, I used to get a thrill looking at the box art. I never had much guilt about it. Modern porn is a circus act. Would any of us actually want to act out the scenes we watch? I definitely wouldn’t. It’s still brutally hard to quit but being disgusted helps stay away.
