    My Journal
First journal of 2019 & 3 weeks no PMO

Just a short entry, first of the year.. approaching a month again.. but I won't be counting the days so much this year.. my progress isn't really about that any more.. as I was only thinking recently how I don't actually feel any different now to how did I did on 100 days.. I think my brain has balanced and it should have because I didn't pmo more than a few times in the whole of 2018.. and that is success. I can now recover quickly if I do have a little slip.. not that I plan to of course.. but I think the real test with all this is, how can you cope if you do? How much work did you do to prepare for that.. because it can happen to anyone, even those with 500+ days.

So with that in mind, I feel good about 2019, I've developed the tools and resources to manage this addiction. It's not about killing it off completely, I'll always have to manage my sexual darkside, as I could call it.. it's about not letting it control me. We have to live with our lust and imagination and our sexual urges.. old patterns of turning to M to control stress and anxiety.. but those feelings and urges, that inner voice of bad thoughts.. it is now a quiet voice, a whisper. Also I'm going to be so busy now.. it doesn't have a chance to get much of a word in.

2019.. it's going to be a great year for Retro Girl.. keeping it retro all the way.

I'm liking the new outlook you have on your goals. I think 2019 is going to be a big thing for you. It should be, given how much you've planned for it.

Yup, that's it. It sounds like you've got it down. Recovery isn't making 90 days, it's coming out of what thing is keeping you back.

Yeah, that's a real good question. How could you recover from that? I hope you can find your answer to help you not relapse.

That's a truth many of us should learn. It's not about killing urges, it's about better controlling it and using it. That's what we should be going for.

This is a great start for the new year, RG.

I am very happy for you!
Your post conveys such security, joy and optimism. I very much agree with you about learning to live with our sexual side. We are human and we will always have that desire, but the purpose of being here is to learn to control and manage it in the healthiest way possible.

It's been a great year for you, but this new year will be even better, I'm sure!

My best wishes always for you! ❤

That is so true. We have to live with these crazy patterns, but know we can stop them because we've learnt how they work and that they will always try to trick us - though not as much anymore.
    Have a good 2019 Retro Girl. :)

Sacred Sexuality & The Divine Feminine

In my study of pre Christian Europe, not least in my own country (that was one of the last to become Christian), but many others of the old European cultures, there was much Goddess worship and reverence of the mother (and nature). The figure of the mother and her ability to give birth to new life was seen as a kind of magic, so much to do with that, fertility, birth etc. was celebrated in their festivals, especially at times like spring. This goddess worship in Europe is largely unwritten about, but in fact one of the most famous peoples of Europe, the Angles who gave their name to what was to become England (land of the Angles / Engles), were originally a mother earth worshipping people. Going back much further, the Venus of Willendorf is a 30,000 year old stone figure found in Austria depicting a fertility goddess.

What these clues tell us is that in the past, the feminine was sacred. Women were seen as the bringers of life and indeed nature was seen as a feminine life giving force and many ceremonies, some that even survive to this day (only with different names) were based around this. You can say perhaps it was a matriarchal culture instead of a patriarchal one, although the truth is it was a more balanced culture with respect for both male and female aspects. There are numbers of examples of women being the leaders of tribes, queens and warriors.. It is perhaps fair to say, women were respected more in those times.

I don't tell you all this because I'm a crazy earth-mother feminist type, no.. Apart from my natural interest in ancient European history, I am fascinated by the reverence that was held in the past for sexuality and the divine aspect of conception and the approach to sex as something sacred and to be honoured. This, it would seem to me, is the complete opposite of today's culture.. a culture I grew up in where I saw many young women who were looking like me in porn movies and on cam sites, displaying themselves, masturbating in front of hundreds, sometimes thousands of viewers. This to me always felt wrong, even if I got sucked in to that dark world for a short time.. I always knew it was something wrong.

However, it wasn't until I began to read about old pagan cultures and beliefs that I was introduced to something that really challenged this idea for me. It turned it on its head in fact, the idea that my body itself, my sexuality, was sacred. As women, our ability to bring life into the world, this was something to be honoured and not abused, not given away so cheaply. It was then I began to feel disgust for what I had done, what I was watching, the way I was viewing myself and my body. I began to feel anger and disgust with the modern culture, how could this happen? How are they allowing young people view these things? Why does no one care about young women degrading themselves in front of thousands of watchers..? No, I would not have any part in that..

I won't lie, it hasn't been easy.. Sadly being raised with pornography as something normal, it was hard to begin rewiring my thinking, moving away from such bad ideas and adopting new healthy attitudes about myself and about my sexuality. Doing nofap has been a big, very big, part of this.. cutting myself off from viewing anything that is dishonouring both men and women's sexuality. Because men are just as involved here, they also should honour their bodies and genitals and seed and not waste it like it was nothing at all. That is also something sacred. When we watch porn we are participating in this culture of disrespecting ourselves and sexuality.. and life itself, because ultimately sex is about life.. the act of love making conceives new life, it's a miracle, a kind of magic even, and so our ancestors certainly believed.

In addition to nofap I have began to become even closer to nature. I find my spiritual energies revitalized by being amongst trees and birds. I like to sit quietly and tune in to the silence and sounds of nature, it reconnects me to my divine essence and my femininity. My nofap journey has become more than just giving something up, it has become about gaining an understanding of who I am as a woman, what it means to be a woman and honour my body and live harmoniously with my sexuality, free from the horrible cycle of guilt and shame I once had. I am now focusing on my highest expression of the female, the mother, the goddess.. and even if the modern society doesn't value that, it won't stop me.. I'll walk my own path.

The adult entertainment industry showed me nothing but how to disrespect myself and my body and I reject that 100%. Instead I choose a different path, a path of embracing my divine femininity and sacred sexuality, honouring my body and myself. That is a path to freedom in these crazy times, liberation is not devaluing your body and soul in the way some sick pornographers have sold it to us. Don't believe the lies they tell and understand that whilst our sexuality is ours to do as we wish, it is something to be respected, valued and shared with deepest integrity. Porn has absolutely no place in the life of someone who wants those things.

Our ancestors understood this and we have certainly gone astray in very recent times. My generation is a cursed generation in this regard. Never before did we have the opportunity to sink so low and degrade ourselves, mind, body and spirit. It is my hope that if we can reconnect with some of the things from the past, we can heal the present.. and turn away from this path that so many are walking that only brings suffering. We might think we are so clever today with our technology and gadgets but we have forgotten something very simple, the respect for life, the respect for our body and sexuality.

For me, nofap has gifted me the opportunity to rediscover my true essence and walk a new path, rediscovering my value as a woman, as a human being.. and for that I feel deep gratitude. I hope others, both men and women can rediscover this also.. We are all worthy of respect and have value as human beings.. it is not for us to live in the gutter but to look to the stars.. to live with dignity.. and starting with respecting our sexuality is perhaps the most important place to begin. For women, let's see ourselves as a manifestation of the divine goddess, with the gift to bring new life. Perhaps it sounds pretentious, but for sure, it's better than the alternative that pornography would give us..

    Thanks for reading!

  14. Awesome post...wow! You're totally right about everything you said. Sexuality is supposed to be sacred and special, an almost magical thing and we've turned it into a sick degraded version of itself, abusing our bodies in the process. Well writen and well said.

    I like this line :)

    Nice!

Very nice. Learned something new. And agreeing with most of the points here. Sex, like marriage is a an act of honour as it brings life. Marriage brings life together, while sex creates life. Hence the two are sarced.

You're right. Everything you said on here is right.

The differences between cultures is so drastic. The things you say here are positive, reinforce a good self image and helps people, yet I feel like beautiful things like this are used to attack me and many other people. As you've said, we've come to a time where beautiful things are tarnished and used the wrong way.

You've helped me put things into perspective with this post. I really liked reading it. I don't remember who said it, but it does take a lot for you to be happy with your sex and to love yourself. You seem like you're making good progress in being happy with yourself.

    Good job. :)

Thanks for reading?!? How about thanks for writing. Every time I think you've said it all, RG, you write a post like this one. I swear to you (I'm a little embarrassed to say it) I came to my computer with something else in mind. I was about to break down and give in, but said let's check nofap first . You saved me from myself tonight .Thanks, RG . like Batman, Solomon, and JRA said, I agreed with everything you said

FWIW, Christians (including myself) would agree with this. We believe God is inside of us, and that He created all of us, including our sexuality. I don't want to get into a religious debate here, I just wanted to say: you are right. P is degrading to people, especially the actors and actresses who participate.

    Thanks for sharing.
