Resisting Urges - A Definitive guide - Fitness edition

    Let me start by saying, DO NOT LIE TO YOURSELF.

    I have told myself several times that porn doesn't affect my life (sex and day2day), however when it got to the point that the only way i could get off even while having sex was to watch some hardcore porn while fucking doggy - I knew i had a problem.

    After relapsing several times (too many to even count), lying to my accountability partner and all sorts of deceptive behavior to tell myself that i need this and this is not a problem - i have found myself a solution.

    I know way too well the urge that draws you in to the dark side - so here you go.

    1) Walk away - Change your environment
    If you find yourself in front of your computer trying to resist the urge to type in the first alphabet of your favorite website, you have about 5 seconds to make a conscious decision to stop. So walk away from your device (phone/laptop) for a couple minutes.

    2) Pushups - This one works like magic
    I know it sounds ridiculous but STOP, DROP AND GIMME 20. If you are unable to do 20 pushups, do as many as you can before you faceplant. I recommend doing at least 2 sets. I can vouch that the blood will not be rushing to your penis, and you will probably develop a solid physique if you have multiple urges in a day.

    3) Punishments - This one is a solid demotivater
    Running 5 miles - This is what i use to resist my urge. I dread running and any sort of cardio, so visualizing myself having to run 5 miles every time is enough motivation for me to stop me right before i even open incognito mode.
    Feel free to use your own punishments, something you dread doing, here are some examples.
    • Running / Cardio
    • Go vegan for a week (for vegans - do the opposite - visualize the pain of that chicken you have to eat, or the damage you're doing to the planet)
    • 100 burpees
    • If you are a fitness freak - then no working out for a week, visualize not being able to bench or build your biceps.

    I want to re-iterate and emphasize that this will work only if you are ACCOUNTABLE and NOT LIE TO YOURSELF.
