Quitting porn and porn only for some reasons...

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, May 29, 2019.

  1. I'm gonna start off by introducing myself, hey there, I'm Pedro from Brazil and yeah, 17yo in two weeks. I'm also pansexual and an atheist if you wanna discuss stuff with me and think that's something you wanna talk about, and I also say that to warn people not to bother me.

Some time in the past I've frequented this forum quite a lot and after a while I decided to quit nofap and not using porn because I realized that nofap was not healthy for me. It made me feel guilt in association with my sexuality, it took quite some time to feel whole again, I think that the culture created here of "all masturbation is bad" and even religious people calling it a sin fucked me up quite a bit.

So number one, I only regret starting nofap, I don't regret having watched porn, and I don't think porn is bad at all if you watch people who choose to do it, not for the money. BUT I do think that some people tend to have some side effects of the use and I also think that support big porn industries is ignoble. Down bellow I'm gonna list the reasons why I'm quitting:

    1) Most of the porn industry is not benign for the people who do it, it's a topic well discussed here and I don't think it needs further explanation. Though I don't see anything wrong if the people doing it are consensual and are enjoying doing so.

    2) It didn't help me going trough bad times. I haven't specified before but I don't present addictive behavior in relation to porn, but I do tend to use it to procrastinate having to deal with my feelings, it's a complicated topic but yeah.

    3) Porn releases much more dopamine without effort, more than masturbation, and without porn people tend to masturbate less (even less easy dopamine)(and studies show an inverse correlation with the amount of porn you use with the amount of sex you have lol).

And further more, I'll not use this forum so much, I'm quite the arguing type and used to talk a lot here but I'll stay on topic.

Please don't bother me with your religions or spirituality, and don't bother me trying to convince me that masturbation is wrong or a sin.

Sincerely thanks in advance for the people who will enjoy discussing the topic with me.
