Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Mar 27, 2019.

  1. im like 50 days or so since I jacked off or whatever but the more days I go into the more I feel like getting with girls and I’m doing this through Snapchat not because I luv Snapchat and constantly texting but I noticed this is how people connect these days and everytime I’m out and I’m talking to chicks they always ask do you have Snapchat and I say nope and I feel like I need to get Snapchat cause of some social void and it’s not just chicks many of my male friends have it too and talk via it
My question is should I be using social media ect whilst trying to abstain from porn blah blah?

I guess it depends on your personal goals, but that's too simple of an answer.

In my opinion, addiction to porn is never the root of the problem. It's usually just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the porn usage, the real problem lies: depression, loneliness, trauma, regret, shame, guilt, whatever. We use porn to medicate these problems, but as we know, it's not a healthy medication to take.

So, back to the question about social media: well, you just have to be honest with yourself. Are you using social media because you actually want to connect with people, form relationships, and communicate? Or are you using social media to medicate one of those underlying issues? If your answer is the second one, then it's probably best to just avoid it.

Overall, I can't tell you whether or not social media is a good option for you during your recovery. You have to look within for the answer to that.
