Putting a stop to this thing that's consuming me.

    Hi everyone,

Day 2 for me. I've been basically writing down notes about how I feel and why I feel that way.
I've had to douse myself with cold water multiple times- the weekend is a temptation. I wouldn't call myself an addict but my brain's definitely formed an association between fapping and porn. I want to go back to the time when it used to feel real good and wasn't just an autopilot thing or a means of finding comfort.

Even when there was no P, I would still fap many times and it would drain me and make me very unproductive. I am sure you all are aware of the benefits of nofap. I just want to be more of a person and less of a fapper. I want to feel more alive.

This doesn't just apply to fapping but I'd like to control my impulses in general.

A person who conquers himself conquers the world. Self control is the only power worth having.

Motivation: I started pleasuring myself at a ridiculously early age. I felt misunderstood and lost and this was my solace. Porn did not even come into the picture till the last 3 or 4 years. Fapping hasn't really made me feel good for the last 10 years. I think that is an indication that I need to focus on greater things. The reason for fapping other than feeling good is to have control over something, but in reality it starts controlling you and consuming you and it makes the world look less beautiful. I want to feel alive and I want to feel present. This is something I need to master before I meet an SO.

I wanna comfort myself with my own mind, not with any other part of my body.

You can gain control. I am confident of this. If you don't yet have an accountability partner, feel free to PM me. A few guys have started an accountability group too and newlifer777 might also be a new member so if that interests you as well, let me know.

I had to use cold water too just yesterday and man did that work! I felt so freakin cold for so long aftwards though, but it was a small price to pay for greater self control and purity and clarity of thought.

Hang tough my friend and stay strong; you can and will consquer this and have that victory and mastery over yourself!

Thanks, I think I am doing pretty good. Sometimes it's pretty hard but the cold water method is working well for me.

    Hello and welcome!

This might sound a bit trite but this is a copied and pasted message because I think its important to greet people but don't have to time to type out the same message every time. So rather than just ignore people I figured it would be good to do this?

Just to get you started can I just make the following suggestions (and they are only suggestions)?

    1. Head over to the forums at the top of the main page. Don't be shy. Wade in and see what grabs your interest. Start a thread. Help others and be helped just by getting involved. Plus its the PERFECT antidote to fapping!

    2. Check out the website yourbrainonporn if you haven't already and make use of the brilliant resources there.

    3. Consider doing a 90 day reboot and get yourself a tracker (see bottom of this post)

    4. Lighten up! Humour really is the best medicine and can really help you see things from a new and and helpful perspective. (And you need that more than anything right now. Right?)

    5. Consider reading the book 'Changing for Good' by James O Prochaska. Is a particularly helpful tool for those who want to make positive and LASTING change in their life. Several of us have found this to be an indispensable tool.

    7. Don't get into arguments (especially over the usual politics/religion stuff) We are all human here and we are in this together regardless of our chosen 'path' (even if you believe truth is a 'pathless' land!)

    6. Thank the founder of this site Alexander. It really is making the world a better place (I truly believe that!) And credit where its due I say!!

    7. Greet and encourage newcomers...;-)

All the very best to you :)
