Promise made for today. I can control myself for one day. Can't quit for 90 days today. Just today.

Then I'll worry about tomorrow later.

You're absolutely correct — one day at a time.

I have found some days harder, some days easier. On the hard days, it wasn't so much one day at a time as one hour at a time!

Keep at it. You're doing well so far.

Just helping to plan ahead, what kind of healthy things do you turn to when you feel like porn?

For me it's cooking, doing house projects, and stuff with my motorcycle.

I've pretty much already got over porn. I did this by looking at the reality behind porn.

It's a fake friend who makes you feel good just before abusing you, to make you hooked, and then criticises you for doing exactly what they told you to do.

It is an industry that takes advantage of, and abuses, vulnerable men and women of all ages. It makes use of trafficked men and women, sometimes abducting them and sometimes conning them. It makes use of modern slavery (and sometimes old-fashioned slavery). It ruins lives.

Even without all that, I also started to see how ridiculous porn is.

Then, in the few times when my brain suddenly wants me to look at porn (it doesn't happen often), I remind myself of how damaging it is not only to me but also to everyone whom I affect. Imagine opening a porn movie… and seeing your own daughter there! The urge passes quickly, within less than a minute.

On top of all of that, I have made a solemn vow to not use porn again, for all the right reasons.

There is no good reason to look at porn, unless you're a researcher into that area or a detective trying to track down criminals (traffickers, paedophiles, etc.). I'm neither a researcher nor a detective.

One more thing. When I think of porn, instead of remembering the bright, exciting, close-up pictures, with lots of movement, sound, and titillation, the image that I make in my head is black-and-white, dark, distant, silent, still, dull. This is effective.

I hope that this is of some help to you.

Day 4 - No PMO today. Thanks for sharing thoughts. I read many posts. This adds accountability. Need to be vigilant and focused this weekend. Feeling good.

I should add that I had a 27 day streak before starting this streak. I thought I could quit on my own without posting. I was bummed to blow 27 days. I hope the added accountability of posting will add the extra kick to keep me going to 90.

I had over a year of short streaks. Only now am I making some progress on a decent length of time. This came only after a long, hard process of self-reflection, study, journaling, and growth. Keep striving and get right back up if you fail.

It can be done and you can do it.

That is so true! Modern music videos are filled with sexualised images. Advertisements frequently use sex. It's everywhere!

    Day 10. NoFap Today.

I quit tobacco a few years. In some ways this quit is similar and some ways harder. Both addictions are stopping something negative that your brain craves. I think that nicotine addiction caused stronger urges / temptations. But this is much harder because there are porn substitutes everywhere - TV, the Internet, advertising, ...

I never had tobacco laying around the house to instantly feed a desire. For tobacco, if I had a craving, I might jump in the car to go to the gas station with intent to purchase. I had time to rethink the temptation and overcome the urge. With this, I can wake up with a thought and 1 second later give into the urge. Very challenging.

With tobacco, you use or you don't. With PMO, there is more gray. If something feels good in the shower and I spend 5 extra seconds "washing", is that fail? This is debatable. I'm still defining gray areas with my quit. Reading logs and learning...
