practice what you preach!

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jun 2, 2019.

  1. I have to admit, I have been replying to posts on here - yet I can't even take the bloody advice I give out!

I am stuck in a loop. I can only go without PMO for 7 days. When I feel stressed and anxious at work I look forward to getting home and PMO.

At the start of the year, I joined this website knowing I need to change my habits. Six months later, I have made no change whatsoever. Instead, as usual, I have wasted endless hours, days and months fapping my life away for that 'pleasure' hit when I have nothing else going on in my life.

I am struggling to find and maintain any sort of passion or interest. I have nearly all the side effects of PMO and have visited my doctor for stress, depression and anxiety at work and just in general life. I hate complaining and whining as I am doing now.

I do find some pleasure in life, it is just not the lasting kind. These are mostly through food, watching TV and listening to music and going for walks to clear my head a little. I pick up the guitar but stop playing after 10 minutes, discouraged when I try to learn something new on YouTube, then I tend to get distracted (you know how YouTube is).

Anyway I just needed to write my thoughts here and maybe I will eventually practice what I preach whenever I decide to respond to a member's problem!

I struggle with the title. I'm a devout Christian but I often don't act like it. I need to work on this.

  3. The most honest, relevant; refreshing, and humble comment on here, apart from all of mine..

We are all in recovery or just goal setting.

My purpose here on nofap is not to advise but through the advise I give categorical in writting externalise what I believe I have understood and thereby give myself food for thought (cos I'll be dammed anyone else has got anything of interest to say).

  4. The life of a Christian is... struggle

  5. You know what, I'm in the same boat. That's something I'm certainly guilty of, not practicing what I preach. But hey, you know what they say, "Do as I say, not as I do." I suppose that applies here...

I think it's just a fact, we're all human and nobody is perfect, even if they seem to have good advice. Most of the time, I seriously doubt most people end up practicing what they preach perfectly in the long run, they're trying to lift you up and make sure you don't make the mistakes they do.
